^^ Scarlett68 Very nice and original. Without fireworks, but very colorful. ;) From tomorrow I'll be looking for a woman with a camera. :pac:

I'm very angry, because today I lost my tripod. Without it, the pictures of fireworks, are terrible.

But it was a wonderful evening. Thousands of people, great atmosphere, without accidents.

    Cheers :D

does anyone else not think the castle should have perminant lights fitted like they did last night? it would look so much better!

The problem is that the lights there last night would be covered in a half decent high tide. I agree the castle, city hall and the courthouse could do with some extra lighting, they would spectacular in a high tide when it is perfectly calm.

that wouldnt be any problem tho if some thinking went behind it. I only noticed really how dark the city centre is when i saw all this extra lighting

whats sad about those paddys day pics is that this is what the city should look like but its a ghost town on the average day..only maybe 10 years ago this could have been a typical day in town

I thought about it too. I think this is the case for human intervention in the twentieth century in the river (the water system).

Edges were mild. Plants at the edge and don't clean the river bottom.
This is what I think, but I don't know. :)

Is it possible in Limerick to rent a canoe or boat, or sail with someone the river? Do you know anything about it? :D

I dont have the stats for this but I'd assume its to do with the building of Ardnacrusha Hydro-electric station in 1929...the volume of water released by the ESB passing through Limerick is hugely increased because of it!.

It could also have to do with the turning tide, at times, the river can look lake like at the point just before the tide turns to be an outgoing tide, especially when ther's no wind.

I took a nice panorama of Limerick from the top of Woodcock Hill this morning.

Amazing to see how Limerick looks so small and how it sits surrounded by countryside.

Wont embed the file here as its 9.5MB

But you can see it over at Clevr.com ( Dont forget to zoom out to see it properly and you can pan the image with your mouse )

    Link [ Here ]

Must go back and take the same shot at night.

You can download the full size photo from [ Here ]

I use all Pentax gear that was taken with a Pentax Km. 14 Pics stitched no tripod. It was foggy this morning, I will probably go back on a better day but this time i'm not hiking up the flipping hill!!:)
