    Hi Guys

A friend is having trouble with the Jet and signal issues. It comes and goes in areas of moderate to excellent coverage on the red network.
It had an 09 sim and advised them to replace and they did with new 09 sim and still had signal dropping issues. Tried in an other phone is various areas an no probs with signal dropping?

At an ends to advise them other than back to repair company...or does someone else have an answer to this amusig situation.

    NG

    Well well ...

Check out out the 'Talk To Vodafone' forum in the Biz-section here.

There's a long long Jet thread! in a nutshell: Vf's firmware for the Jet is rubbish! Paul, without actually saying it, practically admits to that fact. Also: Vf Ireland took the Jet off the market in record time. (compare how long they had the Tocco Ultra etc...)...
in a nutshell: do not bother having it 'repaired'* by Vf!!! Pay a real expert to get it unlocked and flashed with a generic Samsung firmware and live on.
*= in Vf's world means new fw which is the same nonsense-fw they concocted in the 1st place - choice features: gmaps app is locked to fw and you can never update to a new version of gmaps! "trying to install a new version of google maps will damage the fw and make it necessary to reflash the firmware" - yep!!! In Vf world it's damaging to do the wise thing of always having the latest version of an app! It'll 'damage' the fw firmware!

Nb: at the time Vf released the Jet with Google maps, google clearly stated on their own pages that the Jet and google's maps app are incompatible. Doesn't stop Vf from trying, right?! Who are google, anyways?!
In my case any attempt to install any java app on the Jet (not just gmaps) killed the firmware.

There were loads of other 'issues': after the 1st 'repair' the gmaps apps sort of worked, but it became impossible...IMPOSSIBLE to set up and use an AP other than vodafonelive... Photos and messages would save to phone memory, no matter how oftenI chaged it to memory card.

    So:
................................DON'T bother with a Vf 'repair' of a Jet - UNLESS they guarantee that they install a generic, non-branded Samsung firmware.
