Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Keita makes it 4-3 with a sweet volley.

    1min left though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,280 ✭✭✭Bukman13

    Haha

    4-4 95th min

Angola coasting at 4-0 with 10 mins to go.

Then 4 goals in the last 10mins from Mali.

Good to see the stereotype of African teams being exuberant and irresistable on the attack but totally inept in defence is alive and well anyway.:pac:

Just generally disorganised, apart from the North African teams.

Stupid time for the tournament, but always some great games. Almost all end out being high scoring due to utterly useless defenders :D

    tip:

Get €50 by whatever means necessary open an online betting account and make 20 single €5 bets on the 1st 20 games being 4 goals or over.

You will have a lot more than €50 by the end of the 20 games :)

    Did you actually do this?
    Anyone have the 4-4 draw?

Keep us updated on this regularly, you may have stumbled on something here. What are the typical odds on 4+ goals anyway?

What do people think about todays game? Algeria one of the stronger teams but under performed in world cup qualifying, scrapping through in the end. they are on the way up though...

Malawi are a team I know very little about bar them being very organised defensively, if that is possible...

did anyone hear about the punter who placed 4,500 on Angola Mali game last night.
    Went horribly wrong

That is unlucky. I feel a little better about losing by €5.00. Only a little mind. Because I didn't win I now have to cut back on my stake for the next games, I can go about €2.75.

Stick it on Joses team. His teams (Porto, Chelsea, Inter) havent lost at home since 2002. May put a small bet on myself just to jinx him and inevitably it always seems to turn out that way.

I dunno how you can say Algeria underpreformed in qualifying, I mean they topped the group consisting of current African cup of nations champions Egypt. And qualified for the world cup, something which Algeria haven't qualified for since 1986. They also missed out on the last two ACNs so if anything it was a surpise they qualified.

As for the game today, I would expect Algeria to win. Probably a "relativley" low scoring match 2-0.

I can't see anything but an Algeria win to be honest. I just hope the noise of the crowd doesn't get to them. :D

    Shambolic defending.

    Malawi 1 -0

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

    Malawi up 1-0.

    Russel - 17 mins

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,858 ✭✭✭glanman

1 nil to malawi:eek:... Keeper messes up, what a surpirse... through ball, defender and striker chasing close to edge of box...

Keeper comes out but elects to KICK rather than go down on it... deflects of one of the other two and the Malawi guy finished it well enough from a tight enough angle to be fair...

It was a pretty good finish. I actually thought he was gonna blast it over the bar.

Algeria have been caught out at the back twice now. Belhadj is playing in the centre of defence but he keeps going forward and isn't getting back quickly enough.

I suppose that's what happens when you put a midfielder in defence. Needs to be more disciplined though.

should have equalised, algerian was afraid to take a hit...

Belhadj is naturally a left back, even though he plays on the left wing for Portsmouth.

Algeria must be short of centre backs. They've not even got a full bench alotted to them.

Should've given tickets to school kids really to generate some sort of atmosphere.

I kinda feel sorry for them..... they're actually gonna hear all the insults fans are shouting at them.

    2-0 to Malawi now.

What a fantastic header. Great delivery too.

Kafoteka was the goalscorer with 36 minutes gone.

    Cracker!!!
Is Malawi Muslim or Christian, just wondering because of the goal celebrations?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,858 ✭✭✭glanman

They're closing down very well. Getting to the second ball quicker than Algeria.

Belhadj has put in a few decent crosses into the box but as you say, Algeria think they're better than they are. They're being caught out in possession over and over again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,280 ✭✭✭Bukman13

First goal was a disaster from an Algerian point of view. I still wouldn't bet against them yet. Ziani looked like he could pick out a pass throughout the whole first half. If Algeria score early they will probably win.

    3-0 to Malawi.:)

3-0 to Malawi. Unbelievable stuff. Algeria look clueless at times.

Banda tucked it away after a scramble in the box.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

Algeria are just resorting to long shots. Malawi's defence is very well organised. They're having trouble breaking them down.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

    I thought that was a 4th.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,435 ✭✭✭✭redout

    Malawi emerge 3 - 0 victors.

The quality of that game was quite poor in fairness and the stadium is empty!

Honest to god I would be surprised if there was 1,000 inside it.

    Full time:

    Malawi 3-0 Algeria

Malawi's first win in the African Nations Cup according to Eurosport commentators.

Here's hoping the Ivory Coast can do the job and get some points for my fantasy football. :)
