Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Does anyone know if its possible to repair the coolant expansion tank on a Mazda 2. I have a leak about half way up the tank and its spraying out over the engine it about the size of a match head. anyone got a quick or temporary fix?
Of all times for this to happen.:(

Ummm i'd probably chance using some fiber glass resin + a small fiber glass patch... roughen up around the hole with some sand paper first. I done a temporary repair on a pipe like this and its still there 13 years later!

You could also try melt it, but i'm not sure how that would work. There's a place on cuningham road in Dublin that offers plastic welding services, but don't fancy your chances of getting anyone there tomorrow.

Is the hole where the 2 plastic halves of the tank are joined?

just be careful that the hole isn't on a join in the plastic. forcing a screw in there may make the crack bigger. otherwise fire away!

It will be pressurised im sure so the repair will need to be pretty good.

If the repair fails you can loosen the expansion tank cap to minimise the pressure in the system. This will keep the coolant loss at minimum. In the cold weather there is next to/minimal/zero risk of the system boiling over.
