What if it was a sober player who just didn't give a fcuk about the rules and was acting the maggot repeatedly?

Treat the same as a drunk, issue warning/s & then remove from table

Just read the thread, if what OP posted is a correct version of events, he should definitely have kept the money. The guy is some retard drunk who has been warned time and again. He doesn't deserve a second/third/fourth chance. I don't agree with the flop call if it was premeditated but if you look at it from OP's point of view, he has TP, if drunktard is lying, there's a chance OP's ahead anyway or at least has some outs. I think people should be punished for their clear idiocy and ignorance in these situations.

Don't agree with the rule that you aren't allowed to reveal your hand before the river though.

    a poll would be interesting!

    a) OP is a douche
    b) OP is not a douche

    Clearly b).

OP obviously believes in fairness and went above and beyond in giving the dingbat his money back.
Drunks who behave like assholes are still assholes. If you accept the excuse ‘the drink made me do it me lud’ you give people under the influence licence to get away with all sorts of heinous sh1t.

    Only joking Rekop.

This situation also happened to me at The Jackpot. I received no money back after investing €200. The TD decision cost me approx €500! It was the same TD (Dave). I also protested & ended up getting banned.

It really does seem unfair. If you're reading this Paul O'Reilly, I put it to you that the only thing The Jackpot is consistent in is inconsistency. The ruling may have been the same but the outcome was different. On this occassion, the player was not punished & received money back.

This is just not on guys. You know I really miss The Jackpot, the regulars & all the staff. But when I read that this ruling WAS NOT ENFORCED on this occassion, well, what conclusions can I & others draw? Only frustration, cynicism & sheer disappointment.:mad::(

    The ruling was enforced?

Score one for the consistency of the jackpot who it seems from this sample consistently enforce the rules, well played jackpot.

Extremely harsh calling the OP a douche or whatever else. I don't agree with his decision on the flop, but he was big enough to give the guy his money back. Definitely not the actions of a douche.

Look, I wasn't saying he was right to call it dead or anything. It's still a ****ty thing to do. I was just speaking about the rule, not the morality of the bloody thing.

Speech play rules and the string bet rules are the most often abused for angleshoots and I think both should be changed but that doesn't mean if I string bet I won't get called on it.

I think common sense should have prevailed here from the floor (i.e the drunk being told, next time you declare your hand it WILL be dead no matter what, you had a close call there and this time you are just getting your money back) but I don't think the ruling itself was totally out of order if he had been warned sufficiently.

Yeh I agree. Improving clarity on ambiguous or lesser known rules with a small sign on the wall or a signature when signing into the tourny/cash game would help stop all this nonsense.
He was openly warned in front of the table. His ignorance irrespective of how drunk he was, should leave OP with a completely clear conscience after applying the rules correctly. Theres a difference between sly angle shooting and playing the game by the book against a drunken muppet with selective hearing.

Maybe they should have waited for a response from villain before proceeding with the flop however.

may i remind you these two hands are different for the both of you john, you were banned for your immature behaviour after the hand in which you went crazy at the club and staff stating you would take action. stop acting like the innocent party in your situation and take your punishment like man

The most important point here is being missed... When the **** did Irish people start using the word douche?

Also, OP, you're totally right in everything you did, i.e explaining the rules and punishing drunk bloke for not listening despite repeated attempts to save him some money. I would have not given him one penny back. The reason live poker is so profitable is because of drunks throwing their money away. Is the reason you gave him his money back because you're around there a it and you didn't want a scrap the next time you saw him? Cause that's the only reason he would have gotten a penny back from me and even then he'd a got **** all but a wry smile!

The rule is not good for the game as the example with aces shows but in all fairness everything was explained to the man in the club with k8.

OP made an informed call based on previous action and u cant blame him.
He didnt force the villian to announce his hand and also he seemed to have a good read that he could beat the ace high so had every right to call imo.

Giving the Money back shows he felt dishonest but imo he should not have as he risked the man not having k8 and then he would have lost his stack.

And btw douche is a stupid word to use to describe OP in this situation.
    It fits the drunk better.

The term refers to a person with a variety of negative qualities, specifically arrogance and engaging in obnoxious and/or irritating actions without malicious intent.(wiki)

i played in the jackpot for the first time last monday night, after a skip full of beer in coppers.

Bought in for 120 euro at 3 am and cashed out for 410 at 10 am.

It's not the worst casino i have ever played in but far from the best.

There were a couple of occasions when one of the dealers, chap with an eastern accent, was instigating play saying things like, "it's only 10 more to call, you nearly have to for value".
I told him to please be quiet and i'd figure it out on my own. this happened a number of times and was really annoying.

there was one occasion when a guy mucked the winning hand, then saw what was turned over to claim the pot and went scrambling for his cards in the muck to try and claim it to be told it couldnt be done as he'd mucked his cards.

The pot of the night for me was.

I was UTG and had 10,10.
    I raise to 10 euro

    fold, fold, fold

    guy raises to 30 euro

    fold
    Dealer Button folds
    SB folds
    BB folds

I called thinking im against AK or another pair

    flop is
    10 K 10

I check, he bets 28, i flat call.

    Turn is 7
I check, he bets 60, i go all in, he calls

    River is Q

He turns over KK for house of Ks over 10s

and his face just dropped when he saw my quad 10s

(Sorry if i went a bit OT there, new to this forum)
