Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

How many people are going to follow that advice?
Contraception was viewed by him in a negative light, which given his power and influence is a very serious matter.
He has blood on his hands.

In Uganda they adopted abstinence and being faithful when only 14% used condoms, this is what led to Dr Green investigating what worked and he found condoms were the least effective.
He found in Uganda that people changed their behaviour - first time for sex (average) went to the later teens and people were being more faithful to one partner which reduced the risk significantly. It was not condoms that were the solution, the Ugandan people changed their sexual behaviour.

He warned countries in Africa that putting the main focus on condoms is dangerous and they must keep the message of abstinence and being faithful in the limelight, this was after some campaigns went more the condom route and rates started to rise again.

Maybe the condom pushers have the blood on their hands, maybe it is why sexual disease levels continue to rise in Ireland.

No offense Min but really expecting abstinance or sticking with one partner is not how the vast majority of people act.Sad but true,It does not need a DR before a persons name to deny what they see with their own eyes!

That is because some want everything, it is like the celtic tiger, that attitude will only lead to the worsening of the sexual disease epidemic in Ireland.

Tell me why with Ireland's high condom use are sexual disease levels rising at an alarming rate?

Do you genuinely believe that everyone who uses condoms are "promiscuous"?

The guy was hugely irresponsible. No two ways about it.

I'm not judging everyone, I just see condoms being promoted when it comes to sex in Ireland, I don't see any messages about delaying the first time for sex (abstinence) or being faithful to one partner being promoted by the media.

I do read reports of the level of sexual disease rising and one can't blame the Pope for that.
It is the same in Africa, research shows the Pope promotes what is most effective but it is like some people have shares in condom companies.

Min again on christmas day i dont want to argue.
The fact is that the non use of contraception in Ireland led to the Laundrets were children were torn from their mothers, put in 'care homes'were they were physicly and sexually abused as were their children who were placed in 'care'

This was driven by the teachings of the Catholic church and the cowardice of Irish people who cow-towed to the Catholic church(the religion i was reared on)

There is a HUGH diffrience between the teachings of the Catholic church and Christs words.(i am now an agnostic/humanist)

I think some will only be happy when he is assassinated, the Vatican needs better protection for the Pope or it could be worse than 1981.

    good

Why are you happy that a man got hurt? Was it for the thanks that you thought would come? Im sure it was.

If you don't agree with his beliefs fair enough but dont rejoice in a fellow human being hurt, that is just low.

It doesn't matter that he's old. In my book he's in the same chapter as Hitler. A madman protected by a personality cult, unbelievably influential to his followers with his insane and irrational views. How about some army pops in and "liberates" the Vatican City?

And the condom issue - how could he possibly - EVER - state that he is against condoms to prevent AIDS?

The Papacy is a horrific facade outdated by at least a century. Being briefly knocked over is the least he should get. Hope he chokes on a turkey bone.

Comparing the pope to Hitler is beyond stupid.

I was watching the news when the story broke.
They said they have arrested the woman who they believe is deranged.

Fair play to him for continuing with the mass though.

I wonder will he show his christian spirit and see that she is looked after rather than locked up.

    Some Pope!

HA HA. i believe you believe that

I don't agree with what the Catholic church does but they sure as hell don't deserve respect.
One of the largest and richest organizations in the world and corrupt to the core. Run by an old fool with outdated ideas.

I'll show him, and the church respect when they confess their own sins and lead by example.

A useless organization slowing down the progress of the modern world.

I still don't condone attacking the pope though.

Nah. That's not anti-Catholicism. Being anti-Catholic doesn't mean you think its funny for a woman to knock over an old geezer. That's more like pro-idiocy.

Because in the Catholic Church the sins of fornication and contraception are not equal.
    Fornication > contraception.

If you are going to have sex outside marriage, against Chruch teaching, then you aren't going to pay attention to the teachings on contraception either.

While I wouldn't normally be happy to hear an old man was knocked down I'll make an exception for the pope. He's not a good man. Covering up child abuse and then years later releasing hypocritical statements about how "sorry" he is it happened. Doing everything in his power to deny same-sex couples civil marriage rights. Giving his sermon about selfishness when his church seems to focus most of its energy on self-preservation at whatever cost.

No, I really do not like that man.
