Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yeah Chelsea are losing Mikel as well - they could suffer a lot this January.

chelsea and portsmouth are easily the most f*cked.

chelsea with no essien or drogba in particular.

their only saving grace is that their fixture list is very gentle while they're all away.

Heard on some thing on the telly a while ago 17 players are off to the African Cup Of Nations from the premiership, 16 have been mentioned above, can anyone think of the last player?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,282 ✭✭✭Kent Brockman

looks like a few more than 17. have been googling in between supping porter and chatting with in-laws:D

    Fulham (John Pantsil, Dickson Etuhu)

Hull City (Kamel Ghilas, Daniel Cousin, Seyi Olofinjana)

He only has one cap so there's a good chance he won't be brought I'd have thought...

Assou Ekotto going means we have to play Gareth Bale... He'd want to pick up his game a little. Thank God Bassong wasn't called up although I have no idea why, it looks like Cameroon have taken only 3 proper defenders.

Senegal haven't qualified for the ANC, otherwise he probably would have went.

    Pompey could lose 6

    Utaka
    Dindane
    Yebda
    Kanu
    Belhadj
and could lose Kevin Prince Boateng if he elects to play for Ghana afaik he holds dual nationality passport with Ghana and Germany .

    There rightly Fúcked so

Not exactly doing well at the moment either. one win in last eight as far i know. last month they were favourites to win premiership. not so sure now. But will be in the mix no doubt near the end

You're maybe right about more than 17, but Ghilas isn't named in the Algeria squad
    http://news.b.bc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/africa/8418425.stm
    "..
    Algeria's full squad list:

Defenders: Slimane Raho (ES Setif), Madjid Bougherra (Rangers/Scotland), Rafik Halliche (Nacional/Portugal), Anthar Yahia (Bochum/Germany), Samir Zaoui (ASO Chlef), Abdelkader Laifaoui (ES Setif), Nadir Belhadj (Portsmouth/England), Reda Baabouche (MC Algiers)
Midfielders: Hassen Yebda (Portsmouth/England), Yazid Mansouri (Lorient/France), Khaled Lemmouchia (ES Setif), Mourad Meghni (Lazio/Italy), Karim Ziani (Wolfsburg/Germany), Karim Matmour (Borussia Monchengladbach/Germany), Yacine Bezzaz (Strasbourg/France), Hameur Bouazza (Blackpool/England), Djamal Abdoun (Nantes/France)

Reserves: Mohamed Ousserir (CR Belouizdad), Mohamed Meftah (JS Kabylie), Hocine Metref (ES Setif), Chadli Amri (Mainz/German)

Never liked the insular arguments from European Club managers about the Cup of African Nations. Arsene Wenger used to dust off the complaints every two years. Now Avram Grant has taken up the cause.
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/africa/8427256.stm
    "

Portsmouth manager Avram Grant says he is still baffled that football's world governing body, Fifa, allows the Africa Cup of Nations to be staged in January. The Premier League club could lose Aruna Dindane to Ivory Coast and Kanu to Nigeria, while Nadir Belhadj and Hassan Yebda are in the Algeria squad"

(Apologies the source material is BBC, I know many Premiership members only believe SkySports)

Don't know where you read that....

South Africa didn't qualify for the AFCON, so Pienaar is going nowhere.

Only Yobo and Yak are going for Nigeria.

    Official from Prem league website:

    Four: Chelsea - Didier Drogba (Ivory Coast), Michael Essien (Ghana), Salomon Kalou (Ivory Coast), John Obi Mikel (Nigeria);

Portsmouth - Nadir Belhadj (Algeria), Hassan Yebda (Algeria), Nwankwo Kanu (Nigeria), Aruna Dindane (Ivory Coast)

Three: Man City - Emmanuel Adebayor (Togo), Kelvin Etuhu (Nigeria); Kolo Toure (Ivory Coast)

    Two: Arsenal - Emmanuel Eboue (Ivory Coast) Alex Song (Cameroon); Everton - Ayegbeni Yakubu (Nigeria) Joseph Yobo (Nigeria);
Hull City - Daniel Cousin (Gabon), Seyi Olofinjana (Nigeria)

One: Aston Villa - Moustapha Salifou (Togo); Bolton - Danny ****tu (Nigeria); Burnley - Andre Bikey (Cameroon); Fulham - Dickson Etuhu (Nigeria); Stoke - Mamady Sidibe (Mali); Sunderland - John Mensah (Ghana); Wigan - Richard Kingson (Ghana)

Chelsea,City and Arsenal have the squads to cope. Pompey could suffer but cant eally see anyone else being too troubled.
