    I usually don't pay much attention to the line-up til I see the stage times a few days before to be honest. They seem to drip feed the line-up at such a crazy slow pace that you never really seem to know what you're going to get til you get there! You'd wonder do they even know themselves who exactly they're going to have til a few days before!

    Some decent bands there. Fat Freddy's Drop would be worth seeing live I reckon.

    As always though I'll see where the summer takes me before getting a ticket.

    well depends what a "big name" is to you but I like the looks of:

    MASSIVE ATTACK;
    LCD SOUNDSYSTEM;
    THE NATIONAL;
    MUMFORD & SONS;
    SEASICK STEVE;
    MODEST MOUSE;
    HOT CHIP;
    JONSI (SIGUR ROS);
    CRYSTAL CASTLES;
    STEVE EARLE;
    THE WATERBOYS;
    NEW PORNOGRPAHERS;
    BEACH HOUSE

    and more to come and discovering more...

    Oh dear..
    I know you go for the experience, and I've been to every EP but last year's, but that's a very weak line up..
    Mumford and Sons will be great, but frankly, I'm 30 and I haven't heard of/don't like most of those acts. Feck.
    Still, there will be great workshops, the Body and Soul and people getting pretend married in an inflatable church, so it'll be a great buzz, but how long can they hold out against the juggernaught that is Oxegen when you compare line-ups side by side? That said, Poxegen's line up isn't to my tastes this year, can you imagine the scum that'll entice?

    Oooh this is a pretty good lineup so far, I'm torn between EP and Sziget this year. If only the two lineups could be merged!

    All I can say is....................

    ...DO NOT MISS.......MONOTONIX!!!!

    the line up is not bad, but its not worth the money for the tickets.
    although 1 or 2 big act could change that

    Even more reason to go tbh! Plenty of time to bone up on acts and Picnic is a brilliant place to find new bands! You'll have a great time again I reckon!

    Start with Jonsi and work on from there!

    Roxy Music (complete with Bryan Ferry), Leftfield, Imelda May, Massive Attack, LCD Soundsystem, Hot Chip, The Frames, Public Image Limited, Modest Mouse, The National, Mumford & Sons, Seasick Steve, Steve Earle, Mr. Scruff, The Horrors, Breakestra, Gil Scott-Heron, and Crystal Castles are amongst those playing at this year's Electric Picnic.

    Usually I'm the first to criticise the initial EP lineup, but this ain't bad. If the price is now back to €199... far more realistic.

    Seems to be lacking in "big" names though, and Pavement are nowhere to be seen (perhaps they'll be announced after their Tripod show?)

    Thats the early bird price, which they have taken off sale.

    I've been to Electric Picnic ever year and I always have a fantastic time, regardless of the lineup. But for 250 euro, I expect more big names. I know it cant compete with Oxegen which has a bigger budget. I also understand that a significant portion of EPs budget goes on non-music things, and I'm fine with that.

    However, you are really clutching at straws with your list of 'big names' there. While I like Crystal Castles, they are hardly a big name. They have one album and might I add that they were awful last year. The only truly big names are Leftfield, Roxy Music, Hot Chip, Lcd, Modest Mouse and Massive Attack. Jonsi on his own doesnt count as a big name in my books.

    Happy with that.

    National and Modest Mouse, complimented by Jonsi and Roxy!

    I suppose what I was trying to say was that these are bands that I would be very happy to see. big names are subjective, and seeing some "the new pornographers" would mean a lot more than see "Kings of Leon/killers"

    Pavement is sold out so there would be nothing holding them back from announcing them now since they don't need to promote Tripod to sell out.

    I'm liking the line up but would like some more bigger draws to impress for an initial announcement. Again it's the smaller stuff that entices me.

    Looks like Ticketmaster need to update that.

    Yeah...in fact, to reiterate, it doesnt actually have to be big names. There just isnt a whole lot there that Im excited about. Although Mr Scruff and Booka Shade are both great live, Its definitely weak from a dance point of view.

    Maybe the rumours of Pixies and Daft Punk set my expectations too high. But again, for 250 euro you could get plane tickets and festival tickets to a European festival with a much better lineup so I may have to think twice about Picnic this year for the first time.

    I simply don't want big names to be honest but loads and loads of good artists.

    At least 15 bands there that i love. Would prefer 15 of them than 1 big band and a handful of other good ones

    Yeah, as I said, it doesnt have to be big names - but there isnt enough in the lineup that I am excited about to justify 250 euro.

    Am I right in saying that Mumford & Sons are doing Oxegen and EP? Usually bands aren't allowed to do two big festivals in the same country in the same summer.

    True, and they've already confirmed LCD Soundsystem.

    Yeah, I've said it before... €250 is just so much for a festival that doesn't really have "big" names. Roskilde... now that's a festival worth €250, and it's not even €250. Fuck, Primavera Sound cost me €100.

    Not allowed??!! By who?!

    Delorentos played both at least 2 years in a row

    If you ask me they're charging for stuff money can't buy, and didn't pay for - like that atmosphere, buzz and decent people. I know they put extra into stuff you'd hardly notice or take for granted but still, 250 is till a bit much for what you're getting.

    But having said that I'm going anyway! But I got an early bird ticket for 199 so it doesn't seem so bad.

  • Registered Users Posts: 702 ✭✭✭RolandGoose

    Simon & Garfunkel, Bob Dylan and John Fogerty would be perfect! If they were added to the line up!!!!

    I think they would justify the ticket price,
    Are the headliners announced?? or does anyone think there is room for one more big act to be announced???

    Primavera Sounds lineup is significantly better in my option.
