The Legend Don Frye Retiring From MMA

Don Frye, the legend of the sport, annouced his retirement.

“I’m pretty much quitting MMA. I’m tired of getting paid with bounced checks, getting lied to by promoters. I’m sick of it,” he told MMAWeekly.

He was around when UFC first started and is responsible for the growth of the sport. He complied a impressive record of 20 wins and 8 losses while fighting the best of the best.

He has been in world famous brawls like him vs. Takayama.

The epic face smashing staredown between him and James Thompson. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g71ndTGr-v8&feature=related.

He's been in countless battles and is the true American hero. He never backs down from a fight and still one of the scariest fighters today. He had one of the most legendary staches in MMA and will be remembered forever in the hearts of true MMA fans.

He has recently starred in movies like Public Enemies and has been doing other things and thinks its the right time to hang up the gloves.

WAR FRYE and I wish him the best of luck. A true veteran of our sport.

A fight or two late but still roughly the right time.

His fights with Shamrock and Takayama were some of the most compelling of the decade for me.

Two or three years too late (or maybe more) but at least he's able to walk away rather than be seriously injured. The guys been in so many battles and one thing for certain is that he is a bad ass. That Takayama fight is one that everyone will remember.

Not a fan I have to say, remember him from early UFC's (all 3 of them)even from when they did tourneys  but after that his career is checkered and average at best. Some of those were wars to be fair though.

Saw him on Inside MMA a while back and seems like a genuinely cool guy though.

    Very nice guy
    Awesome tache
    Love the Takayama fight

He'll be back  (fighting is an obsession to him.Hell take time off, heal up all niggling injuries and be back in defiance of his age)

Absolute legend of the sport and it's great to see someone who has been fighting for as long as he has and at his age who still has all his faculties about him and doesn't sound constantly punch drunk and doesn't slur his words.
