As far as I know hens should be wormed, they would tend to eat insects and things like slugs which can carry worms.

Prevention is better than cure so treating for worms, lice etc. is important.

If they are for laying or eating more natural methods could possibly be tried like cider apple vinegar (check with vet first though).
