Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

ive been trying to connect my computer to my tv and i went to micro pro computers around by nutgrove and he gave me two things, a dvi to hdmi and a vga to dvi. so iconnected the vga thing to my computer and put the cable on and plugged that into my hdmi and it didnt work. ive tried everything, plugging it in and out restarted my computer and everything and nothing worked. ive heard things about frequincies and stuff. and if there is any way at all please let me know. i also have a samsung syncmaster 730bf monitor with vga in and dvi in and i was wondering if there is anyway of turning the dvi in into a dvi out. thank you

Have you selected the computer as the signal source on your tv?

Is it a desktop or a laptop? Usually you have to switch to the external video out on a laptop. Fn + F8 on Dells for example.

If it's a desktop try it with the TV and the monitor both connected to your PC and have a look at your video card control panel. Right click on empty desktop and select NVIDIA/ATi/Intel control panel.

I don't think you can convert vga to HDMI. DVI is a different story.
If I were you I would get a cheap ass vide card with hdmi or dvi out.

As far as i know you can't convert from vga to hdmi directly. You need a converter such as linked below.

You can on the other hand convert from hdmi to vga

The newer optiplexes like the 620 should have PCI-e instead of old legacy AGP.
    I'd get one of these:

Straight digital HDMI output with no need for a converter and any issues that can cause.
An added bonus is that 4xxx series cards support audio on the card so you can send audio via the HDMI cable without any other cables.

That shouldn't work unless you're using some other electronics to convert the analogue VGA to digital DVI/HDMI.

Its better 2get a card with hdmi out, note ones with large fans r noisy.
A card with large heatsink ,small fans r much quieter.
I had 2use vga,dvi 2dvi,hdmi cos my tv had no vga, just hdmi in.you prbly, have res at 1200x100 ,refresh rate 75mhz,which is out of tvs range.TVS do not just accept any resolution.
