From meteor to o2, switching over time

Hey guys, i was wondering if anyone could help me out. i was on meteor but santa got me an iphone on o2. i went into the store this morning to have my old number switched over to o2, he told me when the signal dies out on my meteor phone, my new o2 sim would be ready to go. well......im looking at a signal bar that says…

Just wondering if anyone else has done this and usually how long does it take?
