Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

My Skoda Octavia (and presumably other cars) has an button to enable/disable ESP. Is there any reason why ESP should not be enabled all the time? There may well be a simple reason for this which I am missing, but right now I don't see the logic....

The only reason I'm aware of for turning it off is if the car is stuck in heavy snow. The wheels spinning will build up snow behind the wheels thus moving the car forward. That's the reason it gives in the handbook for my Audi Allroad Quattro.

You can also switch it off to have some fun aswell, but it doesn't mention that in the handbook:D

Some people might just want to have some fun, or maybe use it on a track etc.

Simple as that! Thanks. Though the words track, having fun, and 1.4 Octavia don't really go together all that well....:)

ESP prevents your car from slipping and going sideways.

There are circumstances, where you don't want that logic, as the input it gets from the car may give it wrong ideas.

In my BMW (called DSP there), I had to switch it off a few days ago, as I had to set off on a road with an incline covered in a mix of ice/snow. With DSP turned on, I was going nowhere whatsoever, with DSP turned off, my wheels were spinning more around, but I started getting grip.
