The parish priest has the ultimate say on whether or not the music is appropriate alongside the liturgy (Catholic funerals anyway).

They're clamping down on dodgy music (see paragraph 42 Sacramentum Caritatis), people making snipes at church teachings during eulogies and a la carte catholics presenting themselves for holy communion.
