Check out the UK Met radar images for the last hour, there is clearly showers over southern Scotland/Northern England tracking in a SW direction....it begins!

that is happening here aswell infact it has stopped sleeting/raining now so all we have to wait for is the low to head south!

went up to sally gap an hour ago snow was over a foot deep almost got stuck:D

Been only dipping in here the past few days. Are the showers from the low going to be widespread? Thought only sea effect snow was expected for the East later.

Raining and cold here in Clare. Getting somewhat sleety here now though.

Heavy wet snow/sleet here, pretty nice. Will turn back to rain , so near yet so far for the moment!

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

The battle lines are being drawn over Ireland now.

A classic battle taking place right on top of us.

Looking at the sky here now, it is like a witches brew, clouds scudding across the sky, rain splatting down like its been hurled by Irelands greatest... ah yes, there is something going on up there!

Very mild air not too far away anyway - buoy M5 just south of Wexford reporting 10.6C with a DP of 10.1C!

    Hello,

Could some person who knows about weather tell me the chances of me seeing snow in the next week? Im in Kilcoole, on the coast in Wicklow. Will it just be the typical mother nature being a tease and covering the mountains 30 mins away?

    Many Thanks :)

can someone tell me when the north can expect this rain to turn to HEAVY snow today (going by that chart) and if we could get much accumulations?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,550 ✭✭✭Min

Temperatures now dropping here, looks like the heavier precipitation and the battle zone is dragging down temperatures at this stage.

if u have a good jeep and off road tyres you should make it up but its almost impossible to come up the viewpoint way you have to come the other way
but i suppose your better off not risking it;)

No temperature drop here - still 3.4C with rain just as it has been all morning (and most of the night)!

After listening to the 1.00 clock weather forceast I doubt there will be any snow at all in the East, South or West but perhaps some snow showers in the North. The East although cold is too sheltered hence the lack of precipitation. Maybe a few snow flurries tomorrow they said to cover themselves. I just don not see any snow on the horizon except as I say in the North. Sorry..................

There's a reason Dublin was established where it is. An the sheltering was one of them I think.

with convectional precipitation in the east at play, i'm almost certain over the next three - four days it will throw up surprises that met eireann don't forecast in advance

Looking at the rain and hearing the howling wind here it's difficult to believe that anything wintry this way comes. Just looks like typical wet muck.

The M2 buoy temp and dew points are higher than this time yesterday so I guess this low is bringing more mild air north than expected.

Any predicted snow seems to always be about a day away.

Lol, I said something to the same effect yesterday, very tounge in cheek, but I'm really starting to believe it now.

My temps are higher now than this time yesterday, and seem to be still rising, 4c and DP of 2.8c, still a long long way from snow territory!

Check out the circular arc to the west on ME's 12:45 rainfall radar image. Must be an error of some sort. Looks too symmetric to be real!

That was there most of yesterday too I believe.

temp dropping now, down from 4c to 2.8 now and a wind that would cut you in half and it comeing from a more northerly north/easterly direction, let the war begin :D
