Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I know this thread is a bit premature but I'm very excited. Love 3rd Round day :)
    Saturday, 2 January 2010
    Accrington Stanley v Gillingham, 15:00
    Aston Villa v Blackburn, 15:00
    Blackpool v Ipswich, 15:00
    Bolton v Lincoln City, 15:00
    Brentford v Doncaster, 15:00
    Bristol City v Cardiff, 12:30
    Everton v Carlisle, 15:00
    Fulham v Swindon, 15:00
    Huddersfield v West Brom, 15:00
    Leicester v Swansea, 15:00
    MK Dons v Burnley, 15:00
    Middlesbrough v Man City, 15:00
    Millwall v Derby, 15:00
    Nottm Forest v Birmingham, 15:00
    Plymouth v Newcastle, 15:00
    Portsmouth v Coventry, 15:00
    Preston v Colchester, 15:00
    Reading v Liverpool, 17:15
    Scunthorpe v Barnsley, 15:00
Sheff Wed v Crystal Palace, 15:00
    Southampton v Luton, 15:00
    Stoke v York, 15:00
    Sunderland v Barrow, 15:00
    Torquay v Brighton, 15:00
    Tottenham v Peterborough, 15:00
    Wigan v Hull, 15:00

    Sunday, 3 January 2010

    Chelsea v Watford, 15:00
Man Utd v Leeds United, 13:00
Notts County v Forest Green, 15:00
    Sheff Utd v QPR, 15:00
    Tranmere v Wolverhampton, 18:15
    West Ham v Arsenal, 16:15

With 3 all Premier League Ties and some potential banana skins it should be an interesting weekend as per usual. Potential banana skins that stand out are Burnley away to MK Dons and Birmingham away to Notts Forest. With plenty of top flight clubs at home to lower league opposition, I think shocks will be few and far between this round but such is the magic of the cup, I hope I will be proven wrong!

Might have a little bet on MK Dons at home to Burnley, think a cup-set is on the cards!

We should have no problem with Watford. :)

Knowing Burnley's away form, that's where my 'cup-set' bet will go :)

Don't Chelsea usually fall behind at home in the Cup and recover? I reckon that's a good bet too, Chelsea to come from behind and win. I'ma miss the annual Villa v. United match

We took the lead last season against Southend at home only for them to score in the 90th minute to force a replay. :o

Was looking at our team for the game against Huddersfield in the 3rd round 2006.

    Chelsea: Cudicini(Spurs), Johnson(Liverpool), Ricardo Carvalho(Chelsea), Huth(Stoke), Bridge(City), Wright-Phillips(City), Joe Cole(Chelsea), Diarra(Real Madrid), Gudjohnsen(Monaco), Duff(Fulham), Carlton Cole(West Ham).

Interesting to see where some of them are now.

I'm 19 and I can remember Everton already losing at home to Oldham, 3-0 at home to Tranmere, away to Shrewsbury, Port Vale and Bradford (Chris Waddle 40 yard stunner) . Hopefully Ian Harte and Graham Kavanagh arent on form this weekend :)

But I'll never forget some of the moments I've seen in this tournament.

I hope we get knocked out tbh. Promotion has to be our priority this season.

Hope we give our kids a run out against Arsenal. I couldn't give a fiddlers about the Cup this year. The last thing we need is for more of our first team getting injured.
Hoping Terry Dixon gets a run out as well as Nouble up front.

It seems likely that if the registration goes through, then Freddy Sears will play a part.

Well it is a glamour tie for your lot. I'm sure if it was any team lower than the Premier League Grayson would rest a few of your key players.

I like Stoke and think decent team and enjoy watching them but think York might give them a run for a replay at least this weekend

As a Forest fan I am looking forward to taking on Birmingham. Although, a weakened team maybe fielded as we don't have the biggest squad and need to keep the pressure on the top 2 in the league.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,129 ✭✭✭therokerroar

We'll hopefully win comfortably against Barrow, but like has been said, The FA Cup produces some unreal upsets.

I still think we'll have far too much for them and win probably 3-0, all they'll want to do is score and we'll pick them off.

    She wore,
    She wore,
    She wore a yellow ribbon,
She wore a yellow ribbon in the merry month of May,
    And when,
    I asked,
Oh why she wore that ribbon,
She said its for the Arsenal and we're going to Wembley,
    Wembley,
    Wembley,
We're the famous Arsenal and we're going Wembley.

    :)

Going Watford Chelsea this weekend. Not expecting the upset but aslong as Watford make a game of it I don't mind if they lose :D

As a ManU fan, I'm glad of the break from the league, gives us a week off to get more defenders back! But also there is something very special about the ManU / Leeds game and Im actually looking forward to it, which is a rarity for cup games.

is pool game being shown on any of the channels?

    Looks like its on ITV/UTV
FA Cup Live: Reading v Liverpool
Already out of the Champions League and title race, Rafa Benitez takes his underperforming Liverpool team to Reading, knowing that a shock defeat will effectively end their season

    There is also a highlights programme on UTV/ITV at 22:30 - 00:00

I was hoping Villa v Blackburn would be on the TV.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,957 ✭✭✭The Volt

Should be straightforward for Liverpool. Reading are quite poor. 0-2

Cant agree with that man, i thought the same for the League Cup.

I know promotion is number one priority, but theres no reason why we cant play a strong team today, we only have one injury at the moment and thats Joey Barton, the lads are playing fairly well at the moment and are full of confidence, lets give it our all and see what happens.

Id love if we progress today and get Sunderlandi n the next round :)

very interesting lineup. The Fonz getting a start alongside Heskey. Guzan keeping his cup run going. Delph and NRC in CM. Dunne, Milner, Petrov and Gabby all getting a rest. looking forward to this match

    Off to find a stream

    Spurs STARTING XI -
    Gomes;
    Hutton, Bassong, Dawson, Bale;
    Modric, Huddlestone, Palacios, Kranjcar;
    Keane, Defoe.
Nice to see both croations on the wings

SUBSTITUTES - Alnwick, Corluka, Naughton, Giovani, Rose, Crouch, Pavlyuchenko.
Redknapp was serious when he said he wanted to go for it
