The Electronic Sports League has launched the (Street Fighter 4) "New Years Cup 2010". A little awkward for those attending the Random Select Tournament unfortunately as the NYC 2010 kicks off at 17:00 GMT on January 2nd. The cup concludes on January 3rd.

Space for 64 players in a Double Elimination bracket. Prizes are Premium Accounts on ESL and an "award" for your ESL account :).

More details and signups available here.

    It is indeed.

(So alternatively, those at the Random Tournament could play from XGC with a crowd of supporters :D)

That site doesn't mention what format it's on.

Also a large, multinational SF IV tournament online would be awful.

    On PC (http://www.esl.eu/eu/sf4/1on1/new_years_cup_2010/rules/)

And yes, lag could be quite severe...and costly! That's always the downfall of online tourneys.

Yeh I was just thinking the same thing. Online play is infuriating enough with all the **** that can happen that can't in offline play mechanics-wise, thanks to even a slight amount of lag affecting timing or whatever.
