    Just wanted to get a quick idea about Au Pairs and how best to source reliable and trustworthy candidates.

    My wife and I are obviously sick with the thought of handing over our young one to someone who we do not know and find ourselves very reluctant to use agencies who "vet" and source people from abroad, check references etc then they land on your doorstep. I've heard some horror stories...

    We would rather meet and make our own minds up about the person (obviously whilst using previous families as a reference point).

    What methods have people used and how have they worked out?
