Low flow from hot tap in kitchen sink

    Hi,

Is this a problem with the hot tap itself? or maybe a sign of a blocked pipe?
When flowing (badly) it used to make a weird noise.
A plumber recommended replacing the entire tap unit (both hot and cold) is that sane?

As the pipe working from the sink to the s-bend is leaking, should we just buy a new sink?
    Where would you recommend?

Sounds like a problem with limescale in the pipe or tap.

Are you in a hard water area, do you have a water softener ?

The tap has been bogey since we moved in four years ago.
Didn't have the dosh to repair, but might now.

No need for new taps, sink etc, little maintenance thats all.

Your tap internals might have given up, fallen apart etc restricting the flow. You can buy new tap internals, easy to fit in the right hands.

Any leaks can be fixed by replacing trap, if your really stuck you can make a temp fix for moment, special plumbers tape wrapped around leaking waste seal, then re thread fitting or you can buy stuff called tech7, its like silicone only better, spread tech 7 around leak, all you have to do, it can set even when pipe is wet.

To be honest, The missue wants to replace the sink, don't ask me why.

How much would getting a new sink in, and fitted would cost?

Where could i buy the 7 stuff, if the above is expensive?

I picked up a stainless steel sink in B&Q up north @ 25 stg, just bog standard but gives you an idea of price. If you're swapping like for like its only a small job, couldn't cost to much.

New waste trap is only a few euro, tech 7 is around 14 euro so best replace trap, its easy as pie, just pick up the exact same trap, if its s buy and s, p buy a p and so on.

New sink and tap mono around 150 - 200 down here. You should not use tec 7 around leaks on kitchen sinks as its mains your dealing with.

Fix the problem you will sleep much sounder.

Your right, on plumbing pipe work its a big no no.

Can be used for temp fix on waste but I'm not one for it, prefer to just replace or renew.
