Camping vs. Running around

I actually find that those ppl who constantly run around with an SMG piss me off alot more than campers (people who stay in the same spot through the whole game).

Most of those SMG guys, they run towards you blindly and you just pop them, but then they keep coming back again and again for revenge, and because they have marathon and lightweight they get you back a few seconds after you killed them the first time, they usually have less than 1.0 K/D's but they are just so annoying!

They annoy me too. But its kind of a good thing putting a class set-up into the game which allows you to easily flank people. Stops stagnant game-play.

Soooo many people who play this game are little whiny girls. I thought most of them were yanks, but seems we've a few here as well. :rolleyes: Here's some of the complaints I've read in this thread and others.

ooohh I hate guys who sit in corners and kill me. (See where they are, and get them back)
ooohhh I hate guys who blow me up with a grenade launcher. (It's a legit weapon, so get over it)
OOoohhh I hate guys who run around quickly and stab me. (Get a weapon like shotgun that will take them out in one blast before they get to you)
OOhhhhhh I hate guys who use their heartbeat sensor to kill me. (Put on Ninja Pro!)
OOOoohhhh I hate guys who use shotguns from a "too far range", to blast me across the room. (Assault rifles have better range so take them out before they get close, or else don't be in close quarters with the wrong weapon equipped!!)
OOOooohhhh I hate guys who use SMG's to keep rushing me to try to kill me. (Another legit weapon, quit complaining)
OOOooohhhHH!! I hate it when I get killed from Air Killstreaks. They are so overpowered!! (Set up a class with a Stinger and take their Air Support down for 300-400XP a go!! It really annoys people which is even more fun!)

Seems we get a new "problem" with the game every week or so, as people bitch about getting killed in a new way. Why can't people just accept that you are going to die in 99% of games, and die more than once in 98% of them too. Instead of bitching and bleating about how unfair it is, adapt your game and get better!!

There are only two things that are genuinely annoying in this game currently.

1. Nuke boosters.
2. Care package glitchers.

That's it. Everyone else is just using different game styles to do the best they can. Those two problems though are people who are using an unintended backdoor in the game to get a leap over others. I'd go so far as to say cheating.
Nuke boosters, are certainly cheating, and I really hate them. But I've only come across it once when it was done blatantly. The other one or two times I've been nuked were probably legit.
I just came across my first CPG over the weekend, and he really annoyed me. It was on Scrapyard and the speed and distance he got the knife kill from was insane. However, I changed class (got out my shotgun) and nailed him a few times by game end. But he was at it again in Quarry afterwards, and it was just a bloody nuisance. I ended up leaving that lobby after the game. He didn't get top score, but just was so frustrating to play against. With the regular witch class, you have a decent chance to no-scope kill them, but the CPG guys are really tough to get.


There are lots of different ways to play this game. I've done most of the above "hate scenarios" at different times, and often during the same game. Whatever works in each gamemap or gamemode. For example, take Skidrow in TDM. I love this map. If I start in the A Spawn side, I'll normally run to the alley on the right and wait there "scoped-up" for someone to run up the steps at the far end. I normally get 1-2 kills that way. If I start in the C spawn side of the map, I normally go to the house on the right and scope down the tunnel to get guys running around that corner. Again it's normally a 1-2 kill move.
Then I usually run into the house above C. I put down a Claymore at both doors (which are good for a regular supply of kills usually), and I wander around that room to long-scope anyone running around across that courtyard or in the building opposite.
After this I find that because a lot of my team have been killed in the B Flag area (where so many people go), they have spawned over by me. A lot of them wait there and shoot across also. At this point the enemy are now spawning at A instead, so I swap from my ACR and go to my M1014 shotgun and have some fun Ninja-ing silently around the B corridor blasting the enemy who are often looking across at where I've come from because my team are still there.
I did this just last night and got a 10:1 k:d score with well over 30 kills (and a lot of them were weapon kills as you know AirSupport isn't great on that map). I'm sure some guys will say I "camped" in the starting move, and even possibly when using my ACR. BS! I have learned other peoples habits and, like chess, I'm giving myself a "thought out" advantage in the opening game moves. An assault rifle is a good mid to long distance gun. So using it in that way is simply being smart!

Similarly, when I'm starting on Favela at the Barbershop, I pick my "Witch" class and race across the football pitch and up the steps. I envariably get 1-2-3 kills from guys running from A spawn down the grassy path to get to the C spawn. Depending on how that game goes, I can either stick with the Witch class for the game, or when I die simply flick over to my regular class for the balance of the game.

I've other starting moves that I'll keep to myself for now. Simply put, I think my way around each game, observe the players I'm up against and change my style to suit. "Campers" have raised some ire among the posts so far. Sure, someone who sits in a corner all day might get you once or even twice, but stop re-spawning so quickly after every kill and take a second to see who killed you via the kill cam. Figure out how they are playing, what weapons and perks they have and how you can get the better of them.

Then plot your revenge! It really is sweet.

A guy was sitting in one of the rail carriages in Derail yesterday with his SCAR and heartbeat monitor and picking off people in the C spawn side of the map. He got me once. I saw where he was, made sure I picked my Silencer/Ninja class before respawning, and wandered around the edge of the map to flank him. I picked him off and got some nice Revenge XP in the process. Plus, because so many of our team were defending the central building above the B flag area, there were a few more of the enemy focussing on it. So since I hadn't appeared with a red dot due to Silencer, I got to pick them off without anyone knowing I was there.


(I will say here and now, that I used to get very frustrated when I played in Wasteland as you'd get games with 2-3 Snipers with Thermal equipped. In some games it was practically impossible to move around the map without getting picked off. However, I've since set up a class with ColdBlooded in it to try to combat this. Again, I've thought about it, adapted my style and am trying to get the better of them. It's not easy because that map is so open, but I'm not bellyaching about it ingame or on here. )

On the CPG guy, I did get him with a shotgun (as I mentioned in my post). It was a pain though because I ended up playing Quarry with a shotgun to defend against him and that map doesn't lend itself to shotgun as primary weapon in most instances. I just did the best I could and then moved on from his lobby as he was obviously doing it on every map.

I didn't notice the nuke boosters until it was nearly too late. It was in TDM on Quarry and they based themselves in the back of the map on the A side. I hadn't gotten killed by them earlier so didn't see them through KillCam. It was only when I pressed the summary screen in-game to see my own score, that I saw one guy with 23-0 and another with 0-23. So I figured out what was happening and went after them. Unfortunately they got me with a sniper rifle, which meant that I saw their base through kill cam. But it was too late to get from my spawn to noobtube the both of them to stop it.

While I accept that if you are really observant, it is possible to catch these Nuke Booster guys. But I'd also argue that it's hard enough trying not to get killed in game, without being a "self-appointed" policeman and trying to catch them around the maps.

I maintain my point that it's a "problem" with the game.

tbh, camping with a sniper is IMO ok because it's kinda what you're supposed to do with a sniper rifle, not run around with one like a retard, stay far away and give support to the guys up front

but camping with any other type of weapon is pretty anoying
i wouldn't class it as "cheating", just being a bit of a *****
but then again, it also depends on game mode as some have said
i have no prob with people camping on a game of S&D and such because well, durrrrr
but on TDM its just anoying

No, I'm just far too impatient to run around a map checking the corners for retards who can't get a legit kill and then the (6man TDM) game ending 3000-700 or whatever. It's far, far too boring. I'll upload some more deadly results from my TDM games to blow the camper fags here away when I'm back at my Mac.

I think you should get a girlfriend or a dog or something and spend less time playing games. To be honest with you, playing mw2 comes in at about 10000th place on my list of priorities so there is no point in boasting me about your high score because i really couldnt care

I have a girlfriend, two dogs and a cat (it used to be two cats until another terror from the bushes robbed it) and video games are just one of my many hobbies, however if I'm going to do something I may as well be good at it, not settle for cheap, crappy tactics having spent money on it.

You're saying one thing, but your emotional response indicates another. It's ok if you want to sit in a bush and pull your plum, but just don't get upset if people call you out on it. Now go dry those tears.

Edit: I also have three goldfish, who replaced 3 other goldfish who spent too much time in their faux bushes and died.

Camping, to an extent, is fine in game modes like Domination, Demolition, Capture the Flag etc. but if everyone did it, the game wouldn't be worth playing

40+ kills on skidrow with a chopper gunner or ac130 is tough seen as most of the other team are usually indoors and or blocked by high buildings, so id say youre wrong there

I don't see the massive problem to be fair. If opposing players are stupid enough to get killed from the same spot over and over, then they deserve it. It's pretty satisfying to get killed by a camper, respawn and launch a grenade in their general direction. If tactical insertion is used, then it's even better.

Camping is part of the game. i rarely do it because its not fun to do it every single game but from time to time it can be.

I hate these people who just shout abuse at campers. It's a style of gameplay. It's a good thing that not every player plays the same way. It gives you a new challenge.

Just because you wouldnt get enjoyment out of playing that way doesnt mean others wont. life and games would be crap if we were all the same

I own the pc version and am on my 3rd or 4th prestige at the moment. My brother bought the xbox version about 2-3 weeks ago. I gave the console version a go to see the contrasts. I have to say the camping in the console version is extraordinary. Whenever i looked at the minimap id notice a concentration of teammates around me at all times. Now the reason i stayed with them was due to an atrocious aim using those sticks. Every time i looked at the killcam footage i could see the enemy zoom in and hit centre mass whereas i zoom in have to toggle left-right, or shift left-right or even prone to get my sights on the enemy. Running and gunning for me on the xbox is pure suicide. So the only way i can get kills is to stay put and camp an area. This seems to be what everyone else on my team does too. Its part of the initial learning curve to get better at the game... to the frustration of everyone else. Im guessing theres an awful lot of people out there who struggle like me. Infact it seems everyone i met struggled like me

I also think another downside to using the sticks is not being able to look behind you as quick or in most peoples case, not at all. I was camping out in a carriage on derail near the b flag picking off people as they were coming out from C, under the bridge and the left area. I was surrounded by teammates all looking forward,camping with their sights dead ahread as the enemy came from the left...

Theres a massive skill gap on the console between the cans and the can nots. Theres nothing to be done about this im afraid. If someone is new at the game they are going to camp.Its the only method people employ to survive and got a kill on the board. No point moaning about it. Its a learning curve

Its not a big problem on the PC because fortunately enough people can aim.

I dont like camping but I was watching a guy the other day in youtube you was giving advice on how to camp, rush, be aggressive...

I tried his advice and got 38-2 kills without even trying! I tell you anyone could do it and tbh, it was great fun but after a while it gets boring. The only funny side is when you find someone camping and you take over his place, then he comes back over and over and over... its amazing how much personal some people take it and come back for revenge. I easily killed a guy 25 times!

Once I remember killing a guy and the guy kept coming back, so quickly, that he didnt even allow me time to leave the building, I must have killed him (luck on my side) over 20 times...

When I dont camp I get on average 25-9

I'll "camp" when I deem it necessary. if you see players running around like idiots across open ground, I'd be a bigger idiot not to find a decent spot and pick of 2-3 before moving on.

In fact, when the pickings are really good and I have a play list full of these crazy mofos, I'l pick a nice bottleneck, lay my claymores and absolutely dominate the game. I racked up an 11 kill streak by just placing a claymore inside a door and watch as they kept running thorough and blowing up. Given that theere were 5 other players in the game, then its clear that one or more ran into the trap 3-4 times. Players with memory spans of goldfish deserve to augment my killstreak.

Like so many things in life, success is generated by doing the exact opposite of what everyone else is doing. they run around like idiots, I wait and pick them off.

It's their problem if they cannot change their strategy to adapt to another player. It's MW2, not Lemmings.

Honestly, if you don't like camping, play Unreal Tournament.

As far as I know, how you choose to play a video game, has little or no effect on the size of your penis or your sexual orientation.

The people who get worked up over this, and who are infinitely proud of their screenshots are ridiculous. You are not a hotshot soldier, youre just a guy with slightly better hand eye co-ordination than some, sitting in his room playing a game.

As far as the camping goes, someone wants to camp, let them. Its more realistic as far as real warfare goes, youre not gonna go running blindly into a battle. As people have mentioned, watch the killcam, head back there and kill him. If he keeps going to that spot, keep killing him!! I wouldnt leave the game, and I certainly wouldnt start thinking about his penis, as some people here seem to.

No a persons decision to camp for what ever reason they deem is strategy. They are making a decision to do something for a reason that they feel will affect the outcome of a game. Fish Hooks all around here though at the moment, make of that what you will!

Uuummmm, afaik you can only use 2 claymores at the same time... if you put a third one the first one will automatically dissappear!
