Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

apologies if this is in the wrong place.

bought a car two weeks ago, tax is out since april but i just recieved the logbook yesterday.

Can i go ahead and tax it or do i have to go through the headache of filling out forms in garda barracks stating the car was not in use ?

I dont think you go to the Garda. that system is where they verify your signiture where YOU state that it was off the road. in this case you cannot state that as you do not know.

Since you will be the new owner on the day you tax it, it should be straight forward.

If the person from whom you bought it did things the official way ,they would have sent off the "tax Book" to the authorities.

You are only liable for motor tax from the begining of the month that you became the registered owner of the car. Whether the car was taxed or not prior to you owning it is of no concern of yours for tax purposes.

So in your case you only have to tax it from the begining of Decemeber.
