MSc during summer months?

    anyone know the reason for getting the extra 3 months to finish your MSc theses (as in the summer) are all postgrads like this?

    It's generally because term 1 and 2, usually sept-dec and jan-may are used for the taught elements to the course. Then 3-4 months are given for term 3 so that students can dedicate some months to research...which is generally the element that distinguishes an msc from a post-grad diploma.

    The dissertation is a vital part to any masters course and it is designed to enhance the skills of the student in terms of research experience, critical thinking, analysis and investigation of specified topics. As it is so important it is generally given 3-4 months to complete without the distraction of other modules in the course. If you have any interest in getting a good grand and produce a decent research document you will need every bit of this time. Also I would advise you plan from Jan onwards and get as much ground work done before the 3 months start....
