    Rob Knox
    Chris Penn
    Katy French
Richey James Edwards (Manic Street Preachers.. presumed dead at this stage)
    Sharon Tate

And I'm going to say these two as it was bloody tragic. Both way too young.

    Anna Nicole Smith
    Daniel Wayne Smith

Out of that list, Rob Knox's and Sharon Tate's deaths seem to me to be the saddest.

Oh, and with all the Monty Python discussion we've had in C&H over the past few days, it's only appropriate I mention Graham Chapman. :(

Loads of singers have gone too young actually.. Kirsty Maccoll, Rory Gallagher, Phil Lynott, Stephen Gately (wasn't a fan of his, but still far too young)

Yeah poor Rob...his whole life ahead of him.

Then Sharon was pregnant which makes it just...all the more tragic.:(

Something myself and my sister were discussing the other night; a really disproportionate number of singers and musicians have been killed in plane crashes.
Buddy Holly (22), Richie Valens (17) and the Big Bopper (28) were all in killed one crash; three members of Lynyrd Skynyrd (all in their late 20's) were killed in another crash.

Then you have John Denver (53), Patsy Cline (30), Jim Reeves (40), Otis Redding (26) and Aaliyah (22). There's probably a lot more that I haven't mentioned.
Considering the odds of dying in a plane crash are about 1 in 9 million or something like that, it's quite shocking.

God it's strange isn't it? Glenn Miller aswell, 40 when his plane disappeared. Was never found, but it's presumed he died in a crash :/

People looked so far beyond their years back in the day.

Hank Williams was just 29 when he died and yet I always think of him as a old man for some reason :)

Ahh nope. Taken before their time doesn't have to mean the 20-30 age bracket.
There are a few older ones who have gone before they should have...or before we would have liked.

Yeah, Steve had the most maddest of exits, almost like a movie in itself.

Got mixed up with that 'One Answer To Cancer' author and took off.

The conspiracies on the whole thing are crazy but not without a tinch of truth to some of the rumours.

    Stephen Gately.

I am almost 26 years of age and am not ashamed to admit that I was devastated at his death (and still am in many ways). I had been a Boyzone fan right from the beginning and always followed their solo projects aswell. I'll never forget when I heard the news he died. Can't bear now to actually look at the Boyzone videos interviews pre Stephen's passing and I know I'll find it hard to look at them as a four piece.

Others also taken before their time

    Elvis
    George Best

    as said already Bon Scott
    Gilles Villeneuve
    Robert Shaw
Lynyrd Skynyrd's Ronnie Van Zant, Steve and Cassie Gaines (another plane crash)

I was watching a show few nights ago..A Picture Of You, I cried!
Not ashamed to admit it. He was soo young, talented, back with the band, loving husband, whole future set to kick off again. He was in such a happy place in his life. Still hard to believe.

I cried watching it too. Apart from the fact that he was so young and talented etc., I felt so sad because he and the other lads had been such an important part of my growing up (corny I know), but all my friends loved the band too and everything we did revolved around them. In a way I'm looking forward to and new single with his vocals on it and in another way I'm dreading it as it will be so sad

freddy mercury is the biggest example of this. he had something that will never be replicated.

lol @ ppl saying cobain and brittany murphy. they chose when they wanted to check out (not so much in murphys case but jesus h christ, STOP TAKING DRUGS YOU WILL DIE LOOK AT HEATH LEDGER). i feel no sympathy for celebs who categorically dont learn their lesson. life is precious and all they are doing is taking up your time, attention & cash. if amy whinehouse was to die tomorow there would so much sympathy and all that sh1t and probably an RIP thread on here full of fraudulent sympathy and shallow goodwill. its disgusting who ppl decide to hold a light for

speaking of which, has anyone mentioned Katy French yet? i honestly had no idea who she was until she died due to taking a sh1tload of drugs but i was meant to feel sympathy or something
