    Hi,

At long last I'm looking to trade-in my 10 year old megane.
I'm married with a 15 month old baby. I live in the country, my wife will be mostly driving it. It will go offroad about once per month, mostly during the summer, but no serious offroading.
I don't change cars very often, I have the megane 9 years, so I intend to keep it for at least 5 years. Therefore, reliability and safety are very important.

    The options so far:
Skoda Octavia scout: €27,000 approx, higher tax, can't avail of scrapage deal
Skoda Yeti: €23,000 approx, low tax, can get scrapage deal, good spec but a bit odd looking.
Subaru Forester: €37,000 approx, higher tax, can't avail of scrapage deal but they last forever.
Subaru Outback:€39,000 higher tax, can't avail of scrapage deal but they last forever.
Nissan Qashqai: €25,000 approx low tax, can get scrapage deal, don't know if it can come in 4*4.

At the moment the Yeti seems to be the best bang for buck but have not driven it yet and the pictures I have seen of it make it at best an odd looking thing.

Does anyone know are Skoda doing a similar deal like Renault re doubling the scrapage deal?

    Thanks

Out of those I'd get the Qashqai. but I'd forget the scrappage and buy an 08 or 09 Subaru Legacy Boxer diesel. 4WD (which the Yeti or the Qashqai don't have as standard) and epic reliability and space.

How intense is this off roading?

The yeti isn't available as 4WD yet in the Republic. 4WD is available in the UK.

+1 on the 08/09 Outback diesel.
