Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Grabbing an expired domain name

Not sure if this is the right forum but don't know where else to post it. There is a domain name that has expired two weeks ago that I would like to register. I have heard that there is a 100 day grace period after a domain expires before someone can register it again. So what is the best way to make sure I get it? Should I just make sure to be on pc 100 days after it expires and grab it the minute it becomes available? I have heard of sites that, for a fee, specialize in grabbing expired domain names the moment they become available. Should I consider using one of these services?

I recommend checking to see if the domain is listed at www.snapnames.com, you have a better chance of snapnames.com securing the domain as a lot of domain companies are buying up good domain for parked traffic or for resale, if nobody else bids on the domain you could get it for $59

sedo are one of such sites

I was told in the past to just keep watching and refreshing...until the account status is "locked" ...then register it. (almost had a site - but the owners re-registered it ...after 20-30days out of date)

It depends on the domain extension

If it's a com / net / org / info / biz, then snapnames is probably the best place to try.

If it's a co.uk there are a few companies that specialise in "catching" domains on the drop

For .ie domains - keep an eye on the status. Once it's showing as "suspended" you have a better chance of it dropping and becoming available

I got a .ie site for a client by waiting until the day it became free and claiming it at 1201 hrs. Midday is when the updates happen on .ie domains. Why not call iedr and find out exactly what day the site will come free on? Then get your paperwork in order ready to go.

The IEDR should not divulge that kind of information to 3rd parties.

Apart from anything else they have no way of knowing for sure if a domain is going to be deleted or not, as it can be reactivated right before the deletion run ie. there is no period of time prior to deletion when a domain is completely non-recoverable

That makes sense.... maybe it was the way I asked ;)

realtime.at is good for snapping some extensions, for .eu they're the best.
