If you're in one of the areas they collect from they just go door to door, so no need to worry.

Because of the bad weather, the areas mentioned already will only be catered, even at that it will be difficult to get around all the areas. Today it will start in Charlesland at 5.00pm

    Charlesland
    Eden Gate + Eden Wood
    Hillside + Heathervue
    Applewood Heights
    Rathdown Park

What happens to them when they get recycled??

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,250 ✭✭✭pixbyjohn

Usually they are mulched and spread on various areas around the country.

Does anyone know if this still happens? Would be great to have my tree collected rather than having to squeeze into the back of my car!

Yes, me too. Particularly as some ass monkey dumped their tree in my front garden last night, so I now have two to get rid off. Seriously, who thinks that's acceptable?

I'm not sure if the scouts still do it - you can bring it to the carpark

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Well, that's better than nothing, but it would be great not to have to fill the inside of my car with pine needles.

The start date is the 6th though. Do you know if its ok to put it down there earlier? I have mine down now and its just littering my back garden with pine needles.. 6th-21st makes no sense though, who keeps their tree till the 21st?!!

It says from the 6th, but in previous years, I've definitely seen them from about the 27th/28th. I would be almost certain there'll be a pile down there already.

Thanks for your replies everyone. I rang Liam from the Scouts today to see if they still do collections, unfortunately not, so it's gonna have to squeeze into my car afterall!

I got a flyer through the door from some guy offering tree removal for €5 this weekend - I'll dig it out when I get home.
