I was going to install it too but greasemonkey isn't available for beta 6 :( Does it work with Amazon marketplace sellers as well? Thanks for bumping this ancient thread though! :)

^ there is an experimental version for firefox 4. Btw, firfox is on beta 8 now, so its worth upgrading to that, some nice new features were included.

Cheers I actually installed GreaseMonkey before you posted from here:

and it seems to be working. I'd upgrade to FF Beta 8 obviously but I think some of my extensions will break e.g eBay Sidebar.

As far as I know, a few days ago the UK VAT rate went from 17.5% to 20%. Does that mean that this (fierce handy) little script won't work properly anymore?

Edit: just looked it up and the UK rate did indeed increase to 20%, so I edited the code, changing the UK rate from 0.175 to 0.2 and we should be good to go!

Oh yeah, forgot about their VAT change.

Edited too, thanks for the tip.

It doesn't seem to be working for me with Chrome. Chrome supports user scripts without greasemonkey and its installed fine. Is the the problem that its written specifically for FF? :o

EDIT: Figured it out, there is a chrome extension for it. I assume that the userscript does only work for FF.

"Sorry for the downtime but the old server died. I'm still working on fixing services (such as search). You can help with cost of servers by PayPal donations to anotherjesse@gmail.com"

I also get a Windows Script Host error when trying to install ?

    Yeah. Here's how...

    1. In Firefox, click 'Tools', then click 'Greasemonkey', and then click 'Manage User Scripts'
    2. On the left hand side, select 'Amazon Prices for Ireland' and then click the 'Edit' button on the bottom.
    3. If you've never edited Greasemonkey code before, you'll be prompted to select you're favourite text editor. I use Notepad, but any will do. (If you want to use Notepad, navigate to \Windows\System32 and select notepad.exe)
    4. Notepad will open and look for the line "var UK_VAT_RATE = 0.175". Change 0.175 to 0.2
    5. Save the file, and you're good to go!

    Hi,
I know this is an old thread but maybe someone can help me. Does that Greasemonkey app work on amazon.com? I recently bought a Kindle and have to buy books from .com site. It would be really handy if I had something like that to give me an idea of prices.
    Thanks!

Going back to the OP (or rather, the poster who resurrected this thread) - you can change your kindle registered country to use the UK site if you prefer. I find that the book selection that I'm interested in is better on the UK site so I changed from the US to UK.

Hi, I'm the developer of the Amazon Prices for Ireland plugin.

I've just fixed and uploaded a new Firefox/Greasemonkey version to http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/64262. To upgrade you probably need to uninstall and reinstall.

fyi there's a native Chrome extension as well. It can be installed here https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/ljbghemliajpgabhbaecbipkgngkoalf.

If anyone comes across any problems with either of these plugins I'd appreciate if you raise a bug, here for the FF/GreaseMonkey version or here for the Chrome version. Thanks.

i never use conversion cause it constantly changes, i pay it in sterling and just leave my bank convert it for me, and it always works out cheaper than the rate amazon gives,

I use the German amazon.de. Usually a lot cheaper especially for electronics!
