Lenses on Ebay

Hi Guys I'm just starting out taking pics and as I got my first DSLR before Christmas.

Ok, my question is I have seen a lens on ebay which seems to be a lot less in cost as to what you would pay over the counter for.

This is the lens in question, The Guy seems to be a reputable seller...

Seems sound enough. I've bought several lenses/accessories on ebay with no issues. I tend to go for older stock as it's dirt cheap with very little in the way of obsolecence.

You should definitely pay by Paypal because if you dont receive the item or its not as described eBay & Paypal will cover you for £500 once the item is bought through eBay.co.uk

(ie go to eBay.co.uk sign in to your account and purchase the item)

be carefull there - you say this is a lot cheaper then you would usually
pay over the counter for - I don't think so .. this lens is quite cheap ... are you
sure you aren't thinking of the 70-300 IS version ??

If buying outside the E.U., just make sure that you are factoring in the cost of any VAT and duty that may be charged. Remember that VAT is charged on delivery charges as well as on the cost of the good itself.

Try keaphoto.com for the IS version ... an Excellent lens ....

I can't recommend it enough ... almost L quality ...

I have the one you linked to and it's not the IS version. I paid a lot less than that for it secondhand. It's not the greatest lens in the world but the IS version is streets ahead of it. Hold out, save up and get the IS one.

Thanks for the info guy's, but unfortunatley I have a garage to replace first as it burnt down today, Jesus I even took a picture of it....Fire is a hard thing to take a pic of........
