While nothing you have said above is incorrect, I am pretty certain that the head to head thing does not kick in until after 2nd games have been played. Silly and all as that sounds, I think Real will indeed go top should they win against Osasuna.

So basically Real Madrid can win games 16 - 18 and be top. Win game 19 and be demoted to 2nd! (presuming Barca keep winning) So the criteria to determine league position in la liga changes after the 18th game of the season That is the most ridiculous system I have ever heard of in world football.
