    Buying a warranty now will probably not help as existing problems are not covered by a new warranty..

    Dell have no problem fixing problems after you take out an extended warranty.

    Most of the time, yes. Not always. The warranty documentation does state that there should be a hardware healthcheck performed before the warranty is offered. However, once you have it, that should be that. It would be a pain in the ass for the Tech and their manager to try and refund it, that's assuming that they'd even care to begin with. By all means give it a go. If any questions are asked, plead ignorance. Just say "I called up the Dublin office and they said it was a mistake and that it should be fine now."
