Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Really struggling with deciding on where to go this summer.. Montawk, chicago, huntington beach, san diego, boston, cape cod???...
According to go4less flights have to be booked by the 19th Jan so time is running out..

Any advice at all on anything would be great - past experiences, jobs, night life, craic??..

And if you've already booked yours where is everyone going??.. Thanks..

You shouldn't have to book your flights so early, is that just to qualify for a free J1 or something?

Eh no i dont think so.. We put a deposit down ages ago in order to get the free J1.. then we have to pay our embassy fee and that by the 8th Jan..

And according to go4less the flights must be booked with a deposit down on them by the 19th Jan..

I spent last summer in Boston and had an amazing time. It's a great place to go because it's easy to settle into (city's not that big) and from my experience they love the Irish! :D I'm not 21 so any drinking/socialising I did was mostly at house parties so I can't comment on the nightlife really. They're pretty strict when it comes to ID but having said that, there were a few pubs that'd serve you. To be honest I wouldn't go to Cape Cod specifically, you can get there handy enough from Boston and there's much more to do in the city than in the Cape. New York's not too far away either so you can travel around a good bit. I had friends staying in NY and they were paying a lot more for rent etc. but there's no denying it's a brilliant place, always something going on. Not sure if I could handle living there but it's definitely fun to visit. We got jobs easily in Boston but accommodation took a while to get. That's just my opinion anyway, I'm sure the west coast would be just as good! Have fun wherever you end up anyway!

Oh just to warn you, last summer in Boston was the wettest since 1903 so weather-wise I might as well have been home all summer! Might want to take that into consideration.

Cheers for that gates21.. Boston sounds really good..

Looks like everyone is on for going to the beach somewhere though.. Either montawk or somewhere on the west coast..
