Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

PCAnywhere IP address

    Hi,

I am in charge of a PC in work that uses remote access to facilitate a services provider. I am forced to use PCAnywhere as there is a clash between it and some of the specialist software on the PC.

The IP address of the host PC (in the office) has been changed without warning and now remote access is no longer possible. I tried un-installing and re-installing PCAnywhere but I could not change it back.

Any idea how I do this?

I know if PCAnywhere doesn't work I can install LogMeIn but having bought PCAnywhere I feel I should use it.

    Thanks,

    Sarah

    Hi,

I know the IP address that the Host PC was originally at. My problem is that the program has changed the host PC address to another address without my knowledge and I can't change it back the original.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Sarah

    need more info sarah

where are you accesing your office from...
    1) is it from a different pc on the office network?
    2) or a different pc on the internet?

if it is on the office network, you just need to enter its hostname in the pc anywhere client, if that doens not work, check the servers firewall settings

    if its over the internet
you need to portforward the correct pcanywhere ports (in the office router) to the pc with pcanywhere's host name
find out the internet ip address of the offices network and connect to that from your internet pcanywhere client

I don't think PCAnywhere can change an IP address, most likely the computer it was on lost connection for a while, and had to re-connect. DHCP(Or your ISP) then gave it a new IP.

    Hi,

The host PC is an office but is not on the office network. It has its own internet connection. I confirmed the IP address for that interent connection with the ISP and, according to them, it hasn't changed.

The company accessing the host are external to the office and they haven't changed any of their internet protocols. However, when I check the status of the host PC from the host PC it gives a different IP address to the one it's supposed to be at.

I want to change the IP address that PCAnywhere thinks it is at to the one it should be at. PCAnywhere doesn't have the facility to allow me to do that.

Can you please explain what you mean by the following: "you need to portforward the correct pcanywhere ports (in the office router) to the pc with pcanywhere's host name
find out the internet ip address of the offices network and connect to that from your internet pcanywhere client". I am not an IT person and I haven't a clue what this means.

    Regards,

    Sarah
