Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Speed Cameras on the M1

    Hi Guys,

I was driving to and from Belfast from Limerick over the New Year and saw cameras that I did not recognise. They have a square face, and long grey rectangular shaped body. There are about 4/5 of them on the road before the M50.

They are on the side of the road looking towards the car (one for each lane). They are not the traffic congestion cameras that are on the Naas Road at Newlands cross.

So could anyone please tell me if they the new speed cameras that are being rolled out?

Thanks for any help in advance.

Would they not be the ones used for the journey timing? Been there for ages.

I've spotted a camera mounted on the East bound lane right at the beginning of the new M6 just out from the Doughiska roundabout......white cctv type, on a single pole, not yer average speed-camera bullet-proof box enclosure........any ideas ?

You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

    Thanks for the reply MYOB,

But what are journey timing cameras for? Besides journey time obviously. Is it that they record cars betwteen certain points to see how long it takes?

    Apologies if that sounds stupid.

They record regs to work out the average travel time between the major junctions. The overhead gantries with the orange LED display then shows the expected time to next junction given the traffic conditions
