Hows Donegal looking now at present?

I have to say Harolds Cross looks fantastic, dry powdery snow!

I have to say that Dublin bus are 100% correct to cease services until the roads have been gritted...I came home there at lunchtime from college and it was absolutely tretchorous, the bus was sliding all over the place as well as spinning!

At the end of the day, they would be liable for any injury to a passenger if their was an accident!

Think it's time to take a stand!

Sunny blue skies up here. Not a drop of wind and no snow !!

are we going to see more snow this evening or is that it?

Just enjoy this thread for what it is. This site over-modded and over structured. This is a beautiful, chaotic example of people getting excited over a simple thing... and it's wonderful.
That would be fine if people stated were they are and then said what weather is like.
People just saying sowing here now does not mean anything to most people

Does any of my fellow Lucanites know what tonight might bring? Ive been trying to get on sat24, and yr, but they are loading very slow. Looking at sky weather, it seems the east coast might be done with snow now.
    :D

Any inroads of the snow in to Laois, particularly around Mountmellick/Portarlington areas?
Sky is getting very dark in Rathdowney.

Wolfe, how much milder maritime air will be mixed up in this system, on the earlier fax charts it looked like we in the West are going to be on the colder side of this system?

at least we have a bitterly cold night ahead to keep the temps down before it arrives.

according to this run, yes in all about coastal fringes of west.

The UKMO which is excellent 24 hrs out, says it will be marginal for western and SW coastal fringes also. Still looks very good for the vast majority
    http://expert.weatheronline.co.uk/daten/proficharts/en/ukmo/2010/01/06/basis00/ukuk/t850/10010718_0600.gif

Higher ground in these areas and further inland will see snow if what the GFS is forecasting comes true. Ultimately precip amounts are not going to be hectic according to these runs. Where it snows, perhaps 3-5cm. (damn I am beginning to sound like ME now with my 'perhaps' and 'if')

    3-5cm would do nicely, thanks.

What a shame that system didn't drop even 15 miles more south and we would have got a nice covering instead of just a sprinkle in Waterford City.
