    Hi folks.
Hoping to run the limerick and dublin marathons this year so decided to start a log to help keep me motivated as i can become easily distracted/demotivated/extremely lazy etc.
I started running in may last year with a view to completing dublin marathon and i managed to finish in 4:06, very happy with this.
I'm hoping to do limerick in under 4 hrs and hopefully progress from there in dublin.
Havn't done a huge amount since dublin, maybe averaging 2 - 3 runs per week.
Also, my diet is pretty much crap so i'm gonna do my best to sort this out aswell. ( I was 186lbs doing dublin and i'm currently 196lbs)
To get started, 8.7 miles at 8m/mile pace yesterday evening. The legs are feeling it now.

Best of luck Gilmore, that's a quick pace for someone trying to break 4 hours, no wonder you're feeling it!

Thanks sub430, no pain no gain.
6.2 miles yesterday evening at 8m/mile pace, first time i've done 2 consecutive days running since october.

Yesterday was a rest day but ended up taking part in soccer training with a local club. Havn't kicked a ball in about 7 months so was looking forward to it but i have to say that i was dissapointed with it and cant wait to go for a run today. How times have changed, this time last year i'd never think of running unless there was a football in front of me (not that i was any good at it, the football that is......and the running)

Keep up the consistancy Gilmore and best of luck with Limerick training. Your pace seems more like you are training for a 3'45 marathon....admit it ! :D

    are you following a program?

    Hi Misty.
Yeah i'm following (loosely) a sub 3h30m training schedule from Run Republic.
I honestly dont think i have a chance of going sub 3:30 but i want to train as hard as my body will allow and hopefully i'll be able to come home in the 3:45 - 4:00 timeframe. Hopefully then i'll have a good base to go forward to Dublin.

    Sun 31/1/10
Rest day due to work and extreme hangover.

Nada due to being shattered from wed's run.

    Fri 5/2/10
5.1 miles @8:32 pace. Planned to run at this pace for a nice easy run but felt very sluggish the whole way round and had to work hard to stay close to it. Definately having another rest day tomorrow and hopefully the batteries will be fully recharged for a crack at a half decent time in Mallow on sunday.

    Hey Steoc,
As of last monday i'm down to 190 lbs, a drop of 6 lbs for the month which i'm delighted with. Most of this drop would be excess weight from xmas so i'd say any further weight loss will be quite slow.
Happy to be going in the right direction though.

Ran Mallow 10 mile today. Finished in 68:13 by my watch, 68:26 official.
Over the moon with this result as i didn't think i had it in me to go sub 70 mins.
I dont have a lot of experience with races but i really enjoyed today and thought it was very well run, so hats off to the organisers.
