    Hi Folks.

    And a Happy New Year.:)

Can anyone recommend a good scenic hill walk over the next few weeks?

Obviously this would all depend on local weather conditions for walking and driving to the area.
(I drive a 07 Clio, cool car but nothing special)

But is there anywhere that is a really enjoyable day out during these months?

    Thanks in advance Folks.

BTW I live near Howth so I was thinking more outside the city limits :)

One that would suit you then is Dart to Bray, over the headland and down into Greystones and back on the Dart.

Its a pretty easy walk, going up the hill is the only steep hard bit. Come out of station turn right and right again over the crossing. Down to the promenade and follow all the way to end. It starts to rise around the headland, keep and eye for a gap in the concrete wall with broad concrete steps in it and follow these up the slope. Aim for the cross at the top, from there you can see the path whe you look south.

Path drops down a little and splits, stay left, and starts to climb again. Just as it levels out it turns inland and a rocky outcrop. Look down the slope to the left of the path and you will see another leading down towards the beach. Follow this and it will bring you to the lower coastal path after about 10-15 mins and then just follow that into Greystones, stopping at the Beach House for an optional pint :)
Dart is 10 mins from pub and signposted.

If you don't mind a bit of a drive up the M1, go as far as Carlingford and take a walk up Slieve Foye. It's a handy enough walk from the tourist office in the town centre and offers superb views out across the Lough and across to the impressive Mournes. Also has the advantage that you don't need to travel any 'mountain roads' to get thre. Carlingford also has a few decent pubs and restaurants. Walk is outlined here.. http://www.walkingandhikingireland.com/?p=92
