    Hi John & Co,

    finally buying a new tv for the sitting room - size 37 - 40" max.
    Budget flexible.
    Had my heart set on the new Samsung LED range but have been informed that the sound is poor.
    Like the look of a few Phillips models but told (again) that the casing is quite bulky and plastic.

    TV will be used for Sky tv and DVD's only (DVD player has HDMI upscaling)
    No interest in purchasing speakers etc.

    Can you please let me know your expert opinion on what to purchase.
    Best sound, quality picture (1-2 scarts and 3 HDMI perfect) Tuner for Irish channels necessary. Must be nice design / slim -Additional features (ambilight etc a nice bonus)

    Budget is flexible but topping around 1k - value for money appreciated.

    We have the gorgeous and ever popuar 42PFL8404H or the 37PFL8404.

    This comes with a slimline (3cm) piano black gloss frame with a clear lip and base speakers (4.5cm inc frame). This model has both the MPEG2 and MPEG4 tuners so can pick up the irish broadcasts.

    4 x HDMI inputs, 2 x Scart, VGA input (for your laptop if it does not have HDMI output) and USB for videos and music from external hard drives.

    The wired NET TV feature is also part of this set so you can browse online or watch Youtube if you like.

    The speakers are 2 x 10W and are pretty decent. Obviously they are not the same as surround sound but they are far richer than some of the other LCD speakers out on the market.

    This TV is 100Hrz, 80,000:1 contrast ratio and Full HD 1080p. And of course these are both Ambilight TV's! :)

Rich Text Editor. To edit a paragraph's style, hit tab to get to the paragraph menu. From there you will be able to pick one style. Nothing defaults to paragraph.
