    Hi all,
I play in a 5 piece rock covers band in roscommon, we are trying to expand and get more gigs in other counties. We cover u2, chilies, Thin lizzy, KOL...... usual pub list really. We have never played in galway county (played in the city a bit), most our gigs are in roscommon, offaly, and westmeath. Any details of pubs would be a great help, thanks!

The co-op in moycullen (bout 8-10 miles outside galway city) is a pub that opened a few months back, and they have had bluesy-rock type bands there so far so you might be right for the place.
Not sure how the place is doing but it might be worth getting on to them

A five-piece band is a tough proposition for a lot of pubs these days unless you're willing to play for peanuts (which you shouldn't because it makes it harder for all musicians to make a living) - and obviously if you're travelling you'll want to make it worth your while anyway. I've played a lot recently in a three-piece band in places that stopped giving my (better) four-piece band gigs. Sign of the times, unfortunately.

Canavan's pub in Tuam also provide an opportunity for new bands to display their talents. Agree with previous poster, a five piece is a bit cumbersome for a relatively small pub. Try it out though.
