    It's not just a bike ... it's a religion

seriously through, head up to Rothar in Phibsbro and they'll build you one for about 250, and save the planet at the same time

You can pick up an old MTB cheap and make that a fixie if you not concerned about the fashion.

Yes, parts are more expensive on their own. And, yes, I've spent loads getting my single-speed built. But that's a price I'm willing to pay for it. It was fun building it, and now I get to rip it apart to paint it. I'll have something personal which I enjoy riding. For me, also, as much as I admit it was about 'being cool' (the bike being 2 years in the making), it was about learning more about bikes so I can maintain my other 'standard parts' hybrid, etc. myself. (It's an old lugged steel frame.)

I guess I love bikes. Fix a guy's bike, you keep him on the road for a year. Teach him how to fix it and you keep him on the road for his whole life.

As someone said, can't someone cycle the way they want? One thing I enjoy about using my new bike (old frame) as a city centre commuter is how once you get momentum going, the bike feels incredible efficient. You can just keep going and going.

That's different to the derailleur bikes I have. But ye can call me a douchbag hipster all ye like! I've had fun making something personal to me and learned a lot about bikes in the process.

You're not a hipster, you're a stoner. 4.35am? You were making love to your fixie weren't you? And decided to take a quick break to check your blog while she was sleeping. I hope you give her a good wipedown with antibacterial spray before you try to sell her on adverts for €600...

    Pervert.

Say whut? I'm in China, like. Hence the posting time, doy. And I ain't selling nothing. I'm a nice person. And if I ever did sell anything, it'd be
'cos I'm broke and need the cash! Bikes like these shouldn't be sold at these crazy inflated prices. Plus, OnTrack is great. Everybody go.

:D as soon as I saw this thread bumped up I knew it'd be about the rasta fixie.
Was having a good aul giggle at that awhile ago. FFS "brand new" but re-sprayed? Who does that? The paint job is woeful anyway.

hahahaha why did he change location from Dublin to Donegal? If someone was stupid enough to buy that heap of junk wouldn't they be in or around the Donegal area......I really don't think they put a lot of thought into their little scam.

As cool as that fixie looks it will get you no street cred until you remove the brakes. Bars also look a touch on the long side. Chop the ends off those bad boys (should only be room for your hands either side of stem) and then you will be the dogs b...

And shortly before that there was this http://www.gumtree.ie/p/for-sale/fixie/79033905

I mean, the ads he's putting up are on the same page (i.e. just a few hours apart) and the descriptions & prices are different in each.
