    OK you guys and girls in the know - what's the story - there's a tale going round that

    "It seems that Limerick city council are poised to sell the famous Treaty Stone to raise money for the city coffers."

    When I questioned it - I was told that

    "it's the only subject of conversation in Merchants Quay"

    anyone hear anything any more definitive please

    The council are going to sell it to a rich American tourist.

    Would anyone like to buy the Eiffel Tower by any chance? Or maybe Nelson's Column? Buy the Brooklyn Bridge and we'll throw in the treaty stone and a few sods of turf for free.

    It actually worries me a tiny bit that I know people who have joined that group. On the plus side, I know three people who will swallow a bus if asked.

    King John's Castle would have made for a more convincing page.
