    Hey guys

Need some help please. We are looking to get wireless in our house. We have a phone line but it has never been used. No number etc

    So what are our options.

We looked at Eircom Broad Wireless but it seem you need to pay €25 to rent the line? Is this right?

Digiweb don't charge rental but they have a €100 installation fee.

Bascially do we need a phone line connected to get wireless? We don't know much about these things. Thanks

Those Mobile broadband things arent really an option as they are not great. We are looking for a least 3 mb

After years of switching from eircom to bt to puretelecom all landline broadband. Now with Nova network's find them great. So my advice seeming you dont use your housephone/landline.Just wireless is a small box like a sky dish(a lot smaller)fixed to roof of your house that's where you get your broadband connection from.Less contention ratio's also

eircom wireless is not wireless broadband. They give you a wireless router for the home. Wireless broadband is delivered by wireless means, but is still wired in the home, unless you add a wireless router. Don't confuse wireless broadband with a wireless network.

Yes as Jor el says there is no such thing as eircom wireless.

There are three main ways to get bb to your home

dsl which is bb over the telephone line

cable which is upc/ntl/chorus or whatever they may call themselves

wireless which usually involves an aerial on your chimney

you can then distribute the signal around your house/apartment/castle by using a wireless router.

The wireless around your house part is totally your responsiblity.

Imagine have a good offer . no line rental. €50 installation. We might be able to get coverage. Are they any good?

Where in limerick are city or county?.Like someone else wireless is an aerial on your chimnley.

You will need to get wireless router if have a laptop,to move the laptop around.

Upc are avail in Limerick city i think no line rental with them either.
