Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Myself and my flatmate have an on-going pro-evo-soccer bet, where if you win 10 games in a row the loser has to buy the winner a soccer jersey of their choice.

Right now I'm considering getting either

    Seattle Sounders
    home-seattle-sounders-jerseys.jpg

    or Espanyol Away
    espanyol_0910-away.jpg

Does anyone know of any funky looking jerseys out there?

The Seattle Sounder jersey is brilliant, that picture doesn;t really show how luminous green it is.

Great jersey, definitely go for that!

    This one was pretty unique...

    Cameroon-02-Vest17.gif

I seem to remember FIFA making the players wear a black under shirt to give the appearance of sleeves in the 2002 World Cup.
Good old Sepp, looking out for the best interests of the game as usual.

nope, they actually forced them to sew sleeves onto the shirt. The issue arose I believe because FIFA had no where to put their 'emblems' on the shirt, and they invoked those ancient laws about the kit requiring an actual 'shirt' or something like that. Trust FIFA, there's always a loophole for them to have their way.

Btw, the original design I believe was for the players to have a full body suit similar to what modern swimmers wear, but FIFA vetoed that too. Reading this they went as far as deducting 6 points and a from Cameroon over it. Puma, btw were adament that FIFA had already approved the kit.

That's right, I remember the stupid little sleeves now, and the one piece kit argument, they like a bit of kit based controversy in Cameroon it would seem.
Maybe it's a conspiracy regarding the pro Adidas lobby in FIFA taking pot shots and Puma:pac:
Seriously though, what a load of sh1te, put the emblems on somewhere else, big deal.

My eyes, the goggles, they do nothing!

The 90's was probably the era for awful football shirts.

I was trying to find a picture of this.
    What were the FAI thinking?
Occupies the worst ever Ireland shirt slot quite comfortably, followed at some distance by the 2000 home shirt that felt like it was made from the same material as a bath towel...

That home one that you mention, I still have mine and wear it occasionally. It actually looks a lot better than some of the recent 'attempts' imo, pretty plain and uninstructed style. The material is weird, but trust me, it's a god send when you're training in a muddy field with driving rain on a dark Winter's evening. Takes the sting out of the wind an rain and adds a bit of warmth too. Favourite Jersey I own after Holland Away 98.

Ah, I miss those jersey's keepers would style themselves. Some of the ones Schmeichel got Umbro to make are fantastic too... this has to be one of my favourites:

little useless factoid here, the point of the stupid designs/mental colours that Schmeichel/Campos/Rossi used in their keeper jerseys was something to do with how the brain processes colours/shapes and was ment to be extremely off putting for the oposition players.

Load of balls, but there ya go.

yeah, they make goalkeepers jerseys quite bright as they say subconsciously a person will try and kick the ball towards the keeper, making it easier to save

This has the exact same design as the Man utd blue jersey from the 97/98 season.
