Heavy snow falling in Kilternan. Won't take long to make make the roads around Stepaside dangerous again!

Ditto in Cabinteely. We had just cleared the drive.....

Was graupel, now nice fluffy flakes.....

But now easing and brightening up..

Had -5 this morning on the car

Same with our Canadian family and yes, it is the dampness.. Ireland after all is one huge bog..;)

Indeed and I have worked with Sweds who have told me that they never felt as cold as when they came to Ireland. I think it is to do with the humitiy here. They have a drier cold than we do.

    Kicking off in Rathfarnham now

    Love it
Extremely cold this morning with very severe frost and ice, along with freezing fog which may linger all day in places. Otherwise apart from the odd wintry flurry, today will be bright and dry with light winds. Highest temperatures will only range -3 to plus 2 degrees.

Although to be honest, condtions didnt appear condusive!

Please don't take that as indicative of Donegal as a whole.

    Frozen solid three miles away.

I wonder if it's getting cold enough in the UK to cause "lake effect" snow for you eastern guys here across the Irish Sea....

Beautiful, clear, bright, freezing cold mrning here in north Sligo (must invest in a weather station soon), with no precipitation to report since last night.
Cats still alive after the hard frost, how do they keep warm outside?
Think I'll be off to that lake tomorrow morning with the bucks........

All to the west of me, though I did have a couple of flurries from other showers

Mine don't; last night one ousted the dog from her chair by the fire..

Great radiant glowing fire it was too..

Mostly they help keep me warm in bed..

Snow in CORK CITY!!! Tis gas as it is very localised, it is in the Glasheen area of the city, not very heavy but everything is being covered with a light dusting like icing sugar. Then a few minutes down the road nothing at all. Still foggy around the west side as well.

There was a brief flurry of little balls in Dun Laoghaire 20 mins ago. It's just started again, but snowing with proper flakes lightly now. Roads are white.

Absolutely no sleet here. -3.1c I think what people are seeing are snow grains? Have heavy snow grains here with proper (big) snow flakes mixed in.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 26 W23

Unless there's new "loud snow" it was sleet.

I noticed the sound on the skylights first.

Thought it was rain; it was that loud.

Quiet now so all snow. It's very fine though.
