Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Have the new regulations about doing a pre-training course before you get your permit come in? I've read on some sites that they have and others that they haven't. It's all a bit confusing.

Don't have a bike at the moment, but am thinking about getting a Ducati Monster 620 or similar and getting it restricted. Would that be a good first learner bike in your opinion?

    Cheers. :)

Nope they haven't come in yet, so get your theory test sharpish!

And you might struggle to insure that bike as your first bike.

Would an insurance company take into account that I have a full NCB on a car, age 33 and am a full licenced holder for 13 years? Or will they just see a new bike rider with a provisional?

Car license has nothing to do with bike at all. Although I think aon give you a discount if you insure bike and car with them.

Don't think Aon insure first time bikers.

Age will be a factor though.

Years ago now but Aon did my first time insurance. Was a pretty penny with no NCB and Dublin city centre address.

Really? That's great, if I had known that I would have paid the extra to go with Aon than go with Quinn.

Will definitely check them out when renewal time comes around.

There was a time when Aon were the only insurer covering first time bikers. They definitely do insure first time bikers. Most dealers in the country should even be able to organise it for you.

I got insured on a FR Bandit 650 with 0 ncb for less the €700 :D That was with AON. Got a discount for grade 4 assessment and car insurance in my own name (even though it was not with AON)

Mind you, that was 2 and 1/2 years ago and I know Insurance Companies have changed who/what they insure.
