Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

hi, i'm running win7 and was wondering whether the readyboost option for flash drives is worth going out and buying one for? does it speed up the computer noticeably or just a bit?
is there any specific usb stick that is optimised for readyboost and where could i buy it?
    thanks

If you have more that 1GB of RAM no its not really worth it. Use an old one if ya have one!

Buy more ram, its just as cheap as a large usb key

i'm running win7 on a laptop so i've no place to put the ram. plus i'd be afraid of opening my laptop in case i'd damage something. god knows it's happened enough times on my other computers ;)

Definitely not. It only yields any positive results if you have 512MBs ram. Any more than that and could negatively affect performance.

thanks, don't need then as i have 4GB of ram. i was just wondering cos my bro (who's a IT expert) said that using readyboost was a huge benefit to the system and really speeded it up.

It'd put the Pagefile on the USB drive. If thats faster than the hard disk, itll speed you up, but otherwise no.

Even with 4gb I notice the PF is still using ~100mb but its nothing to fuss over.
