    FYI

Just on the news - all 4000 odd primary and secondary schools across the country are to remain closed Mon Tue and Wed next week and this is to be reviewed by the Dept of Ed on Tue again.

Thats rediculous, how come every business and private company seems to be functioning away?

And what about here in Limerick where, as far as I can see, the roads surely are ok for the majority of students?

Tsk, will the University be hit next, sure all the students have to travel from all over the country to get back?

Thanks for the heads up anyway!

The roads around Limerick are grand for the most part, the city is fine, gotta become a teacher, get days off when the weathers a bit cold...

What seems to have happened was that it snowed in Dublin and then Kildare Street sat up and realised there was a problem because they couldn't get home.

Rather like when the USA believes WWII began at Pearl harbour.

Primary schools stay closed due to kiddies running around and falling and claims abound. There is no reason imo for secondary schools to be closed

My mother works in a school for children with special needs - that closed because the buses that collect the children at their door can't collect them because they live all over the county, and in estates with untreated roads etc etc.
But I can't see why other schools cannot open - especially ones that were open this week. Their parents can get to work on the most part, so they should be able to get to school.

Children in certain schools are told not to run by the teachers.

My friend a newly qualified teacher had to sign documents in EVERY school she did subbing in to say she would not allow children to run in the yards at break because of the potential legal action taken by parents if said child were to be hurt. That was 5 schools IIRC she reffered to.

One being in Limerick which was Scoil Ide.

Its crazy, what is it coming to? Kids cant run in schools because parents will take legal action but they can stay out on the icy roads on their scooters til about 10 at night!! Ridiculous!!
