The big thaw in swords. Is this the end?

    yes this is the end...

    This is the end
    Beautiful friend
    This is the end
    My only friend, the end
Of our elaborate plans, the end
Of everything that stands, the end
No safety or surprise, the end
I'll never look into your eyes...again
Can you picture what will be
    So limitless and free
    Desperately in need...of some...stranger's hand
    In a...desperate land
Lost in a Roman...wilderness of pain
And all the children are insane
    All the children are insane
Waiting for the summer rain, yeah
There's danger on the edge of town
    Ride the King's highway, baby
Weird scenes inside the gold mine
    Ride the highway west, baby
Ride the snake, ride the snake
To the lake, the ancient lake, baby
The snake is long, seven miles
Ride the snake...he's old, and his skin is cold
    The west is the best
    The west is the best
    :p
Get here, and we'll do the rest
The blue bus is callin' us
The blue bus is callin' us
    Driver, where you taken' us
The killer awoke before dawn, he put his boots on
He took a face from the ancient gallery
And he walked on down the hall
He went into the room where his sister lived, and...then he
Paid a visit to his brother, and then he
He walked on down the hall, and
And he came to a door...and he looked inside
Father, yes son, I want to kill you
    Mother...I want to...WAAAAAA
    C'mon baby,
No "take a chance with us"
C'mon baby, take a chance with us
C'mon baby, take a chance with us
And meet me at the back of the blue bus
    Doin' a blue rock
    On a blue bus
    Doin' a blue rock
    C'mon, yeah
Kill, kill, kill, kill, kill, kill
    This is the end
    Beautiful friend
    This is the end
    My only friend, the end
It hurts to set you free
    But you'll never follow me
The end of laughter and soft lies
The end of nights we tried to die
    This is the end

yeah, the west is the best in these situations, the 'warmish' wind blowing from the irish sea cools down as it goes inland. Here there is a massive thaw with a gusty easterly wind. The Irish sea can be our best friend (see showers last night) as well as our downfall (warmer air) :(

Once I woke this morning, I was straight out to build me a friend as I suspected a thaw. Boo hoo...fingers crossed for later

shower of f*ckers in met eireann, they tease us with all this ****e about the end of the world, and the closer it gets the more they start the "ah well maybe it wont happen". Then we have weeks of bad weather and just when the muppets in the government start getting their **** together the weather ends. So fecken typical.
Having said that it is snowing lightly in East Cork so I might have to take it all back

Whats with the Dub's, last night it was like return of the 80's snow, now most Dublin folk are kind of spoiling the fun for others. Instead of moaning about a bit of thaw, should be glad to see other parts of country experiencing first big falls of snow, glad to see mention of snow in Waterford / Corkford.

No change here Louth north, still plenty of lying snow, cars covered with snow from early morning fall, no real noticeable temperature rise.

I'm obviously near both of you as it's also snowing here,But only very very lightly...I'll be patient though :)

Yeah, you're not too far down the road from me Ricky (we've had a brief discussion about photography before and Rally of the Lakes etc...)

Have the thermometer outside and its slowly dropping from +13deg and is currently at +2.9deg and falling.

    Still snowing lightly here :)

full on thaw going on here in Donabate. Got a decent covering yesterday evening, mostly gone now from what I can see. Sky is very dull and grey.

Had been quite windy from about 10pm yesterday but in past few hours has died right down and is now quite calm.

Car says that the temp is 2 degrees

my father said the 96fm forecast at 11am just said sunny spells by this afternoon. Do they just randomly make up forecasts or what!

The precip to the south east must be leaving a dumping wherever it is over, its just barely moving at all.

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

Currently 3.4C in Maynooth, something of a thaw underway. With any luck, we'll get water back before it freezes again - although not entirely sure if it's frozen , or cut off by the council.

A lot of snow last night, though - 5cm on an area I cleared yesterday. And we built a fine bearded snowman.

I've now had all the necessities of a snowy spell, so not too bothered if it snows more or not, but I suspect we're going to get more anyway. I'm slightly puzzled that points north and south of here are reporting snow, but looking at the satellite images, we seem to be sitting between two streams. Presumably one or other will shift a bit at some stage.
