    will it be like this??

I really doubt it. December 2000 looks set to remain the king of winter months I am afraid.

In Rathfarnham, near the foot of Kilmashogue... the thaw is gathering pace now :(. Praying for the temperature to drop, or a good chunk (we got fairly hammered with it) to survive until after darkness tonight.

Don't let this be the end!

0.9c here now 100% cloud cover. Slight wind. No Thaw. Couldn't help looking to the south a wishing when I was out getting the coal for the fire :)

There's been the odd patches of sleety drizzle here...but just cloudy right now.

There was a little bit of melt here vs last night, but I wouldn't say very much. Just on the 'usual' places - e.g. rooves, branches etc.

I do have a feeling this could turn into a bit of a damp squib though...and a very messy one at that.

What's the story with the so-called 'event' today? Is this it, for us in these parts (D15/east leinster)? (By 'this' I mean cloudy with the odd bit of drizzly sleet...)

Bread would be good but if there is old fruit in the house or nuts throw them out. They get more energy from them. And for those with feeders up for our feathered friends not all birds can grip on to them so nuts sprinkled on the ground around feeder would help those lads.

Nuts should really only be feed to birds through the feeders as some times the smaller birds eyes can be bigger than their bellies. They will pick up large nuts off the ground and choke on them whereas they will only be able to get bit sized bits from the feeders.

Porridge/oatmeal would be good to scatter on the ground for them.
