Scumbags = bullies !!

Going back to the OP.....all those pages ago.....I would say any situation that you can walk away from, like verbal abuse, you walk away. I live on the north side in an area that unfortunately I have to encounter these scumbags regularly, usually just some lame appearance insults or making sexual connotations, shouting randomly in your face and I usually just ignore it. However during the snowy days, I was out walking down the road and could see a bunch of about 10 teenage lads ahead and I expected them to start throwing snowballs but it was an area that there wasnt really anywhere to go other than straight ahead, my house was beyond them and Im not the kind to get offended at having some snowballs thrown at me. So I just went on through them, joking with them, ran on ahead a bit. Then they proceeded to chase me, one of them whacked my head to knock my hat off, one of them grabbed me by the neck nearly knocking me over(I had scratches on my back after) only I grabbed his arm and unleashed some verbal abuse and they backed off, still hurling abuse. Im a girl in my 20's btw. These guys are total scum that use anything, like the snow, as a mask for violence, it can only lead to bad things if you retaliate unless needs be. Dr. Cowboy had the opportunity to walk away but stood there expecting a slap instead and got it and returned it, you were looking for a fight just as much as those scum.

Well done but the last time i checked I can't walk on water so we had to cross that to get to O Connell street , our bus was not due for 30 mins so we were going for food on o connell street too

Its a tourist trap. And it makes more sense to go over O'Connell bridge. The ha'penny is not exactly a lovely friendly place late at night. So either you're not from dublin, or you were looking for trouble.

I don't believe your story, if nothing else it would have appeared in the papers, on radion or elsewhere on boards. That said I think you're funny. You make me smile at your somewhat outlandish stories.

I find this quite a funny little thread and to be honest if you are being verbally abused look the other way sure If anything laugh at them.
If you are about to be attacked and can handle yourself in a fight then have at it.

These scumbags only understand a good thrashing. Before anyone smart gets back to me on this I learnt how to handle myself in school and then started Muay Thai 1 year ago. I do enjoy fighting but in the ring or training mats and have noticed I am alot less aggro then I used to be.
But if I'm out in town and some scummer is about to hit me and gonna put him on his ear that and If he has any friends with him I will sure as hell try to put them down aswell no not a guarantee but I'd prefer to have taken atleast two of them and get away then to not stand up to them at all.

You can say that it is stooping to their level but I find from personal experiances that people saying this can't follow through or even defend themselves in the slightest.

If the story of the phone and the liffey is true and that is a big IF. Throwing the phone into the liffey was a bit over the top so was 3 people on one now thats not on(Could definately be classed as stooping to their level).
But thus is life

I'm just saying in a situation like that where someone approaches you for no reason and gets physical I wouldnt blame anyone for having a go at them, having said that they probably wouldnt even have approached another guy.

You have the right attitude and will go far in life you know where to invest your money in relation to your health

Big guys like us are not the target generally but we can be the victims sometimes in more intangible ways like scumbags taking the doll and selling drugs and stealing at the same time which we have to pay that back in tax. as my Dad once said possession is 9/10 of the law.

Maybe we went over the top, but that guy knew he was attempting to take on 3 big guys and should have stopped before things got out of hand, but he thought his mates would back him up ,but when they seen us beating his friend they ran for fear of hard beating too ,which I did not want to hand out to them ,but would have done so if the situation had arisen
