    Hey guys,
I started a new post rather than hjacking someone elses so ive a few questions,
My partner finished his apprentiship last March. Was let go immediately, once qualified. He went back to college in Sept this year to upskill and when finished he will be quailifed as a sustainable electrical and controlled technology technican.

So we are trying to decide whether to put in the migration subclass 175 as a family before March (as then he will get the points for working in an occupation realated to his CSL occupation for the last 3 yrs withing 4 years?) even though we know electrican isnt on the CSL list. He wont be finished college until 2011. We know our application wont be looked at until 2012 but we feel maybe we might be closer to being looked at than if we wait until he is qaulified in 2011 to apply.

Oh what to do?? Any opinioins?

Also is being in the final year of his apprentice accepted as working in the occupation or does he have to be full qualified? As he has never worked since becoming fully qualified?

Before you apply for the visa he would have to obtain a positive skills assessment from the TRA so best to start there http://www.deewr.gov.au/Skills/Programs/TRA/Pages/default.aspx

Usually used to be a month but it was slowing down to about 3 months mid 2009... It will cost about $300

Also it might be the case that your partner might require at least 1 year experience after fully qualifying from the apprenticeship .... I am not sure there was some sort of change in the UAC last year.
